Mod to couch

We have the Flagstaff 25KS. The sofa is a jackknife type. I noticed the front panel next to the floor is held in place by a couple of brackets and can be easily lifted off when the seat cushion is raised. I'm thinking about trying to replace the brackets with hinges so the panel can simply be tilted up to gain access to the area under the couch without having to raise the cushion. I have a small safe that would fit there easily and could be accessed by tilting up the cushion Just wondering if anyone has done this and can give me some advice.

We thought about hinges but not figure out how to do it. We did replace the brackets with L brackets so it just slides off, don't have to raise cushion.

I have a Mini Lite 2306 and have thought about the "L" brackets. I was worried that the bottom panel will fall off during tow with only a "L" bracket installed. iluvlcy has that happened to you?

I am subscribing to this thread because I thought of the very same thing. I am interested in hearing what folks have done. I can see how you could replace the brackets with a couple hinges at the top. I would want to secure it, though, so it doesn't "flop around" and can't figure out how to do that. Does it serve any purpose other than being decorative?

You could use a couple of kitchen cabinet magnets used to keep your cabinet doors closed when not in use couldnt you? Place one on each end at each end.

Yes it does slide off, we glued some rubber onto brackets and that seems to help. It sure make it easy to access under sofa since that is where alot of our storage is.
