Model Years vs build dates

I bought a 2015 Micro Lite, ordered it in January 2015, took delivery in July 2015. I ordered it because all the ones the dealers had in stock were equippedwith murphy beds and power awnings and tongue jacks which we wanted none of. I was told that there were no units available in the USA equipped the way we wanted it and it would have to be built. The dealer called me some time after and gave me a build time frame etc., etc. We took delivery in July 2015 and have enjoyed the camper. I have been working on painting the frame of the camper as it is getting a lot of surface rust. As I was working on it I looked at the stickers on the side of the camper and the frame and they say that this camper was built in June of 2014, seven months before I put in the order to have it built.
My question is where was this camper sitting for over a year that nobody knew about its existence when they searched existing stock.
I know hat I have no recourse, everything appears to be above board and legal but why the deception?
Also I found that the wood in the floor in the front right corner is soft and mushy and will need to be repaired.

Any thoughts on these lengthy points would be appreciated.

Build date of June 2014, makes it a 2015 model year.
They would have started making 2015 models even a little earlier in the year.

We ordered a Columbus 320RS in January of 2012 and it was a 2012 model year. However, by the time it was built and delivered in March they were already selling 2013 models at the dealerships.

I always felt as if I lost a year. It had a lot of the changes/improvements for 2013, but on the title it was listed as a year older than some that could have been purchased before I took delivery.

I ordered mine in January 2015 and picked it up in March 2015. It should not of taken 6 months to take delivery. I think April or May they start making the next year. I also found out model years don’t mean much. The factory makes changes mid year all the time.

There is nothing unusual about the build date and model year. Mine was built in Jan 2016 but is a 2017. I know it sat on the dealer lot for 16 months.

The only real problem you have is with the dealer. Sounds like they wanted to sell what they had in stock, when that didn't work they accepted your order but then found what you wanted somewhere else and then claimed it was built for you. Call FR and ask for the build sheet for your VIN, it will show what dealer the unit was originally shipped to. You can't trust anything the dealer says or claims.

Last time I did a special build (different brand) I had to sign the planned build sheet generated by the factory sales rep before the factory would accept the dealers order.

Any problems out of warranty are most likely too late, but if you can prove the dealer mislead you , then you may get some sympathy assistance.

We ordered a new Catalina 333RETS at the end of January of 2017 and took possession in early April. This unit is titled as a 2018.

RVs are confusing, model years don't mean much. Changes can be made on the fly, sometimes to incorporate a new feature, sometimes to remove one, sometimes to save money and many times the manufacturer doesn't even have a build sheet showing the components that were installed (could potentially be important for recall purposes).
No rules broken, cause there are no rules.

We ordered our trailer for a spring delivery in February of 2015 and took delivery of one of the first 2016's for this model in April. We ewhere not expected that as we just assumed we would get a 2015. Like someone said already they make mid year changes anyway. For the 27rlws they started putting the moulded front cap on mid year for the 2015's. They made bigger changes mid year than they did for the year change. But your build dates sound off to me. Our build date which I can't remember right now was only weeks before actual delivery.

I think someone has pulled a fast one on you. If you ordered a new trailer, it should have been built AFTER you ordered it.

I ordered my Mini-Lite 2503S on Feb 28, 2015. It arrived at the dealer in late May 2015, I picked it up in early June, 2015. The sticker has a build date of 4/7/2015. It is titled as a 2016 model, which yours certainly should have been also, if they'd really built it AFTER you ordered it.

Model Years vs build dates

Not that it will help you, but we ordered a Puma on 8-18-16 and picked it up on 10-26. It shows a build date of 10-19-16 and ours is a 2017.

That’s what I was thinking, too.

Interestingly, I checked a couple photos I have from my 2011 model. The large spec sheet (with appliance model numbers) on the back of the medicine cabinet door says it has a manufacture date of 08/18/2010 but the sticker on the outside says it was manufactured on 9/16/2010.

I knew previously that my TT is labelled as a 2011 model but the model is not in the 2011 brochure I found online.
