Okay, have my first travel trailer and have not taken it on the road thus far. Have read these posts and not clear on exactly where you place the tape or paint or how??. Anyone have pics of this for a confused new owner. Owned three fifth wheels but this is my first travel trailer. Flagstaff 2022 25 BDS. Thanks

Notice the strip of Red Tape on the inner post. That is the retract limit. By the way I pulled this off Amazon and it was the only one with it marked. That's what happened to me, it wasn't marked and I found it the hard way. If yours isn't marked I would suggest raising it manually with the crank until it stops and then back down an inch or so and mark it.

Broken gear and pin threads abound on R/V forums and include popped 12v circuit breaker issues.

Every power jack I have owned has paint/Sharpie marks on them 1" from full extension and 1" from full retract.

My Husky Brute power tongue jack has a "smart stop" feature that stops the jack at full extension/retraction.

Well I got around to replacing the broken screw gear today. Fairly simple and straight forward. Disassembled the upper plastic housing and unbolted it from lower tube unit. I unbolted the tube from the trailer frame. The screw gear unscrewed easily with finger pressure. Ran the new one back through and reassembled. Sorry no pictures kinda jumped into it and keep going. I wished I could have turned it to one side to allow my tailgate to drop, but Ill take one victory at a time. Shout out to FIC tongue jacks who sent me the replacement gear with no hassles. I just called the 800 number on the jack. All is well
