Stove vent.....

Have the 2017 flagstaff 524rlws 5th wheel. Do I need to do anything when operating the hood vent fan or is it just open all the time? My other camper had 2 little plastic flippers that I had to move away from vent door so it would open when fan was on.

I think it depends on the style of range hood you have. I have heard that some don't vent to the outside but vent through a charcoal filter back to the inside, doesn't make sense to me but it is what it is. As far as venting to the outside there are at least two styles of vent flaps. One, like I have has 2 retainers that you turn to release the flap to do it's job. Some are a little more difficult to operate and have 2 button style retainers that you push up and at the same time rotate out to release. It should not be left open all the time. Make sure you secure it when you travel or you may not have it long, it will flap in the wind and disappear.
