Truck issues ruin vacation
Had cancel vacation reservations due to my f250 breaking down again just replaced the egr cooler who knows what this will turn out to be. Starting to regret buying a diesel truck at least a ford not sure if other brands have similar issues but it appears the issues all stem from the emissions add ons. Not sure I trust the truck to go any considerable distance. It does not appear that ford has a legitimate fix for these issues. Not a happy ford owner my fifth wheel sure looks nice sitting in my yard though...thanks a lot ford motor company!

You've arrived at the reason that many do the EGR/DPF/DEF deletes on their out of warranty trucks.

I just recently had paid $5000.00 for a "cab off" repair on my 2010 F250. The EGR was just one of the issues. This occurred with less than 69,000 miles on the odometer.
No Fords in my future and it's questionable whether I will buy a diesel again.

Where I live you have to have a f350 to take advantage of the egr/dip/def delete because the f250 has to go through emissions testing periodically

Glad I stuck to my plan................. After 3 transmissions in 112K in my older
F250 (My 1970s F100s and 150s were great ..... My 1980s and 1990s F250s
not so much.) ........... I went toward the Dodge & Cummins never looked back
No emissions testing here......yet..... They are too busy worrying and arguing about a sticker on your windshield to take the trash out......

On my 3rd F350 and a F250 in the middle. Never a problem. They have been like the Energizer bunny. Never anything else in my driveway.

I ditched my F250 for a Chevy with the Duramax/Allison..........Could not be happier!
Like my father before me I have always been a Ford truck man...........Never again!

Something to consider, Chevrolet and Dodge/Ram has the same diesel engine for the past 20 years or so. Ford has had at least four different diesel engines. I suppose if Ford keeps experimenting with their diesel engines and your dollar, they may one day come up with something that they can keep.

I wouldn't do that, you'll never be able to trade it in. Sorry the truck is giving you grief. We're it me, I'd consider buying an 08-10 chevy which can be had pretty cheap, then sell off the ford ...then consider what to do next.. that's just me though.. some might balk at that idea.

Chevrolet and GMC are basically the same truck. I am not sure that Ford outsells
Them combined. My last three trucks have all been Chevy Duramax. I will continue to buy Duramax diesels even after I quit towing.

They had the 7.3 which was a WONDERFUL engine...................
Until the EPA regulated it out of existence.
As for me, I will keep my 08 DMax LMM til I no longer need/want to pull a camper.

Three years in a row driving between Clines Corner and Santa Fe pulling my 5th wheel my truck goes into regeneration cycle, then must drive to regen then i get wrenches and check engine light. Lose a day going to ford in Santa Fe First two years they do a forced regeneration and send me on my way. Second year it happened the guy waiting behind me has the exact problem. This year Santa Fe Ford tells me that there is new programming that will fix the problem. Send me on my way without even doing a forced regen. Drove all the way to Waterton Natl park in canada and never had a drive to regen but mileage even when unhooked from my 5th wheel never went above 12 MPG. West of Clovis NM on the way to south TX check engine light comes on. I drive on into Lubbock Ford and they run a test and tell me that the DEF FILTER MUST BE REPLACED!! Turn off check engine light and tell me it's fine to go home. Take it to the dealership in Boerne TX and get the same response. Not covered under truck or premium extended warranty. $3500. To $4,000 to replace. They are going to bat for me with Ford since I have had this problem from the start. The office where they have to appeal to ford is in Melbourne Florida!!!

I have two good friends I work with who have had a very similar experience with their Fords. Neither will ever purchase another Ford.
