Weight epro

Hi All-

We just purchased a Flagstaff e-pro 19bh after researching the 2021 models. We ended up getting a 2022 but were surprised to see that the unloaded weight was 200 lbs higher than its seemingly identical predecessor. Anyone aware of what led to this 200lb increase? Our tow capacity is 4500, so every lb counts in our case!

How did you figure out that the 2022 weighs more than the 2021 model? Does it say on the factory specs that the 2022 weighs more now, or did you find this out by real world weights? (Physically weighing the TT on a scale)

Factory specs = approximate weights which can vary widely

Physical real world weights = Normally a shock (and a lot heavier) as to what you were expecting, and can be a few hundred pounds difference in factory specs

Thanks for the reply! We were just basing it on the factory specs for 2021 v 2022. From what you're saying, those can be quite variable. So perhaps the two would weigh the same on a scale and these were just estimates. Oh well! I was just curious.

Your bigger worry will be the loaded tongue weight..
If your max towing capacity is only 4500lbs, then your max hitch weight will probably be 450lbs.
Since that trailer has a fictional dry tongue weight of 425lbs, once you add the weights of batteries, factory options, water and trailer cargo, it'll easily exceed that 450lbs number.
You've focused in the wrong number. Don't feel bad because many owners of smaller tow vehicles have been sucked in by the clever marketing of these larger single axle trailers.

I have a GeoPro 19BH. With two full propane bottles and (2) 6V Golf Cart Batteries, my tongue weight with the trailer loaded is around 515 lbs. This is without anything in the water tank however.

Which is probably over the OP's 450lbs max hitch weight.

When you get your trailer loaded, everything for a trip, your going to be in the 4000 to 4200 range. On my 19FD, we were 3800 including with 525 on the hitch. I have a single lithium battery, with lead battery, the hitch weight will be higher. You will need a weight distribution hitch, your tow vehicle will have separate specs with using a WDH. Lots of people are towing with vehicles with 4500 or 5000 tow vehicle capacities. Made sure when you do you first shake down trip, do it at a distinction that requires a few hour drive. It was on our shakedown trip, that convinced me I needed a WDH....

It’s also important where your towing, towing from NC to FL, is a lot different than towing from Denver to Leadville CO, or anywhere in the Rockies...

Enjoy your new trailer !
