What am I doing wrong?

I have a 2020 Flagstaff micro lite 22FBRS. Took it for it’s first trip this weekend and decided to fill the freshwater tank and bring some of my trusted filtered home water. When we got to the campsite about two hours away when we open the door we noticed there was a small amount of water on the floor in the entry/kitchen and also in the bathroom. It wasn’t much at all, but I couldn’t figure out where it came from. Didn’t think much about it and thought maybe I filled the tank to full and some of it might’ve slush back up through the plumbing? Everything works perfectly over the weekend and when we got home I noticed there was more water on the floor. Again, it’s not that much but it looks like something splashed because it wasn’t everywhere just in a few spots. Is it possible for it to come back up through the sink drains or bathroom sink drain when I hit a bump? I didn’t have the plugs in any of the sinks nor did I have the sink covers on. Any thoughts? This has never happened on any of my other campers.

Any rain? I have a 2018 Rockwood 2507s. Never had any problems as you have described but had a roof leak around the wi Fi extender and also around the cargo doors.

No rain until we put her back in storage. Talk about good timing!

I forgot to mention… The water on the floor looked like splatter marks.

Next trip I will put the plugs in the shower, bathroom sink, and kitchen sinks to see if that fixes it.

Pump off both times and all faucets closed. Checked that scenario both times.

When I found the water in my 2507 it had travelled a fair distance from T he actual point of entry by following the cable from the wi Fi extender. You may still want to check the roof and any point where water could have entered and then sat until you moved the trailer. I had a small stream at one point prob 4 to 5 feet from the actual point of entry. If you have a splatter I would look at the ceiling above the mark on the floor and try and track back from there. My leak was a simple poor caulking job on the roof. The cargo doors leaked all the way around them because they were not torqued in properly. The screws to the frame have to be tightened in a specific sequence like the lug nuts on a wheel. I'm not saying that is Your problem but it could be something totally unconnected with your water supply, taps etc.

Thanks for the details. I will definitely check it out. It very well could be.

Keep in mind that there shouldn't be anywhere that water could "splash" from the fresh water tank to the interior of the trailer. In theory, it could possibly happen from your gray water tank, up through a sink drain, but it seems extraordinarily unlikely - especially on your first trip. The gray tank would need to be full, or very close to it, and would have to splash water up *through* a sink or shower drain trap.

So, if you are sure that the pump is turned off, and you are sure that the faucets are turned off, then I agree with the other suggestions that you could be looking at a leak in the roof - maybe one where water can build up somewhere when it rains, and trips out only when the vehicle is moving.

I would tend to agree but there was no rain this weekend nor did we use the AC. I’m going to get on the roof next week and check though.

I have exact same model camper. The water is most likely coming from remnant water in the kitchen sink faucet gooseneck. Going over bumps in your travels will dislodge it and it will end up almost anywhere. Especially if you leave the sink cover on. The water will land on it, roll off and end up on the floor. I had a similar issue and now tie a kitchen towel around the spout an aerator and it solved the problem.

This is what I think is happening. Thanks for your solution. I’m going to test this later this week. Maybe turn the pump off and then open all the faucets until all the water is gone and then shut them before traveling and see if this helps.

We have always turned off the pump and bled the water pressure before traveling.

I run with water pump turned on. Fridge Ice Maker works while travelling down the road.

How do you do that? By draining the hot and cold low points?

Just turn off the pump and open a faucet.

If it really is the faucet, I would just replace it with a better quality one. It's rare you find an RV with decent OEM bathroom/kitchen fixtures.

Just FWIW, I've had water slosh out of the toilet. I now make sure that I have as little as possible sitting there.

I had the sink problem. Even if I released the pressure there is always something left that dripped.

Fyi-A new faucet may not solve your issue completely. I had to swap my faucet with a regular kitchen faucet because a pot fell on mine breaking it at the base. The home one wiggles open as we drive all the time. I put one of DWs hair scrunchies on it to stop it because when I hooked up the water I would forget to check it and water would be everywhere. I also removed the sink cover now...

Yep, pump off, open a faucet for a moment. No need to open the low point drains. All you are wanting to do is relieve system pressure.

I suppose if you have a motorhome type R/V then having the pump on as you travel down the road might make sense but in a TT or 5th wheel, there really is no need for the pump to be on going down the road. If a fitting breaks or a line vibrates loose, I'd rather not have the contents of my fresh tank come flowing out the door when we get to our destination.

Also... to the OP... there was a thread here a month or so ago about the kitchen faucet lever (single lever faucet) actually opening (turning itself on) going down the road from the weight of the lever. They wound up putting a bungee or rubber band around the lever. It actually made a watery mess in their R/V.
