'16 2306 Insulation Is Meagre

I'm presently camping where the temps are dipping a few degrees below zero at night.

I have an electric infrared heater and get the box to 22°c and within 1 hour it has dropped to 16°c. No roof vents are open and only the small window by the bed is open 2cm for some "flow". There is no wind.

The unit doesn't have any insulation in the underbelly Just the floor and sub-floor with the Styrofoam. The layers/sections can be seen under the dinette bench seats.

I even went so far as to purchase some carpet and threw it down so my feet don't freeze when walking.

This past week, I've been thinking about stuffing some 2" high R value styroboards between the frame rails to beef up insulation. I won't be able to do anything where the FWT, GWT and BWT reside.

I won't be able to apply any under the floor on the outer parts from the frame rails to outer wall without gluing it all into place and I'm sure it will look horrible. That leaves a lot of exposed area.

Is it even worth doing that underbelly insulating when the walls and roof seem to leak the heat so bad?

Anyone have some experiences with this?

Looking forward to some input, if any.

TIA.

Your time an effort might be better spent by adding skirting around the rig. that can be done in many forms from foam board to hay bales anything to help hold the heat around the unit. Adding insulation always helps it does take some time at very cold temps to freeze holding tanks.

the Rockwood is a 3 season trailer, at best.
not insulated for colder weather.

if you planned on camping in cold weather, you shouldn't have bought a FR product, as they don't make true 4 season RVs.
except for their Ice Cabin fish trailers.

I didn't plan for the temps to dip as they did. It's warm and sunny all day but the nights are cold and dry. I don't camp Nov-April. So there.

I'm just looking for some tips, not to be patronized about my choice of TT.

Nurek, do you have electric hookups where you are staying? If so I would put a electric heater under the trailer and then put up skirting round the bottom. This would block the wind and the heater would help keep the floor and tanks warm.jay
