2010 8265s on order any advice

Hi i am new to the rv world all together. I have been camping with my buddy for years in his cardinal and now his raptor so i am pretty smart on the whole scene, but yes this is my first rv i will own. I am looking for any advice anyone has to offer. Anything from towing a 5er with a 1/2 ton (i have made lots of mods to handle the 5er) also i ordered the cherry cabinets and i have seen the pics on here of the other forest river models with them but does anyone have pics of a rockwood with the cherry woodwork. And lastly does anyone have any pros and cons about my exact model that they would like to share. thanks again for the help.

Welcome to the forum. The 8265 is a big camper and is going to be hand full for a half ton truck . Backing a camper is really not that hard and the longer it is a easier it is to back i think as i can back mine in just about anywhere on the first try but man trying to back a small camper like a pop up is a little harder as it dont seem to respond as well as a TT or a 5er just take your time and practice in a parking lot a little before you go out the first time and you will be fine.

We have an '08 8265S that we tow with a '06 Silverado 1500 Ext. cab with the 6.5' box with no slider. The truck has the 5.3 V8 with towing pkg. We love the trailer and the truck handles it surprisingly well as long as I use the tow/haul mode and keep the truck in 3rd gear. Our trailer has the free standing dinnette and minimum carpet option and we really like that. The only cons that I can say about the trailer are: it could use more seating in the living area (we added a bean bag), there isn't much counter space in the kitchen area (we added a microwave cart w/casters), and I wish it had a ten gallon water heater.
