I'm new to the camping world,Im gone to order a 2011 Forest River Rockwood Ultra Lite 2604 SS Saturday at 10am.No turning back after I order it.My Truck is a 2004 Ford F150 XLT SuperCab 4x4 4.6-liter V8 automatic 355 Gear Ratio 5'.5" Bed Wheelbase 132.5 "(New Body Style)The truck has a built in Trans co0ler (Factory). The trailer says its 1/2 Ton Towable Dry Weight is 5,280 And GVW is 6,480 .The Ford Dealer said my truck could pull 6900 Lbs but thats a conservative number.Do you think this is to much trailer for my truck? The Ford Dealer Said I could pull it withease and the Rv Dealer also said I could pull it,but the RV dealer is trying to sell me a trailer and the Ford dealer isnt buying a trailer. So Your opinion is needed.

Based on the wheelbase of your truck at 132.5" divided by 5 you get a trailer length of about 26' as the recomended length of trailer for wheelbase to not exceed, the 2604 is specd' at 29'. Also, most of the long time and more experienced guys here that tow trailers don't like to exceed about 80% capacity of the tow rig. The online specifications for the trailer on FR's website show a GVWR of 6629lbs. None of this is leaving much room for error.
There are those here that will tell you it's no problem you can tow anything you want and don't listen to the wheelbase thing and if your rig is rated for 6900lbs then pull 6900lbs but they aren't driving your rig, you are! It's your family, it's your safety and there is a reason why many adhear to the above information. A friend of ours at work towed a similar weight trailer (5er) with his F150. He said he never felt good about it. Always arrived frazzled and white knuckled. I have a feeling you aren't going to be happy with the way it works out.
Will your truck pull that trailer, sure, I think it will. Will you like it, can't tell you that.

Agreed, plus the 4.6 is a little small for that trailer & 3:55 gear is a bit small. You'll be hard pressed to finish a hill at the speed you started at. Will it tow it? Yes. Will it tow it safely? Let us know.

I pull a Flagstaff 26rbss (= 2607ss) w/ Silverado 1500 Crew w/ 5.3 and 3.73 gears which handles very well. Could use a little more power in the Adirondacks but other than that no problems in 2 seasons.

I have towed a 2010 2604SS over 6000 miles with a Silverado 1500 crew cab short bed 4X4 5.3 engine with 3.73 gears. On the flats at 60-65 I don't know it's back there, in the hills I wish I had more power. When I bought the truck I did not intend to pull a TT, hindsight being perfect, I wish I had bought a 3500. As other have said go for more truck not less TT, and

We pull a 2006 2603 which is comparable to the 2604 in weight using a 2002 F150 Lariat supercabwith a 5.4 and 3.55 rear. Gone all over the country without any problems including mountain states. Don't set any speed records but then again don't try to. Power wise I'm on the upper edge with the 5.4 would like a little more but it still handles it. My opinion the 4.6 and 3.55 rear, is really stretching what the truck will pull going with the weight of the 2604. I would rethink either the truck or the camper.
