Talking 2018 Rockwood Mini Lite 1905 Questions

Hello,
We just picked up our new Rockwood Mini Lite 1905. This is our first travel trailer and have lots to learn ! It is now parked until spring in our back yard on a stone pad. I have a few questions that I want to ask.

!- does the television need to be removed because of the freezing temps?
2- also in regard to the TV do I need to just run a cable from the "cable port" to the TV back to recieve cable TV when needed?
3- Also does anyone recommend putting down the 4 stabilizers while in storage/winter months or is it just personal preference ?
4- Im thinking of buying and installing a ADCO Designer tyvek wind cover, is this something that will stop fading of the laminated walls and or snow protection, or is this just something not worth the trouble ?
5- Will I need to sanitize the fresh water tank in Spring. The 1905 has been winterized and parked and not been in service as of yet ?

Any other steps that i should do now or in the near future you could recommend would be greatly appreciated !

Thanks,

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new trailer! You certainly made the right decision in posting your questions here because there are lots of knowledgeable people here who have "been there, done that". A lot of your questions have been answered in-depth elsewhere on the forum if you do a search, but let me see if I can give you a quick summary.

No. The electronics are designed to withstand a wide swing of temperatures.

There should be a coax connection for both external cable and the antenna on the roof. Your remote should have a mode button that you use to switch.

The consensus here is that the stabilizers are just that -- to stabilize the trailer while occupied. No need to have them down in storage.

Having a cover never hurts, as long as it fits well and doesn't flap in the wind.

You're probably good to go. If you like, you can run some fresh water into it in the spring and then just drain it to remove any particles that may have been introduced in the manufacturing process. But I don't think sanitization will be necessary.

I wouldn't plan on storing anything in the trailer over the winter that mice could get into. There are several threads on mice control if you think that might be a problem where you park your trailer. Good luck!

I would recommend sanitizing. It isn't a lot of work, and can save you and yours getting sick. Just because it is new, doesn't mean it doesn't have cooties growing in the pipes. I don't remember what is in the Rockwood manual, but my previous trailers recommended re-sanitizing if the rig sat unused for awhile, though they never defined awhile. I didn't pay much attention to sanitizing this season, as I had the dealer do it before we picked up our 2018 2104S this September, and we took it from the dealer to a nearby state park for a maiden trip. I always sanitize in the spring, and use it enough to keep the lines from growing stuff.

Congratulations and welcome to Rving.
I was in your position early last year and here is what I learned so far:
1 - No
2 - No, the TV is already hooked to a cable internally, you just need to run a cable from the camping post to the external hook up point in your RV
3 - No. They are there to be used when you are camping, there is no reason to put then down when you are not using the TT and they will end up getting more water and dirt in that position for no benefit.
4 - I'm in my second TT and I had/have cover in both. It's worth. My last TT went through several bad weather storms during winter and in spring when I took the cover it was clean and shinny, like new.... It's 100% worth the money and the Time. I had a generic cover in my previous/first trailer and it worked well and now I have an ADCO designer for the new trailer... It's way superior product. I fully recommend it. Just be careful with the end of the gutters, cut tennis balls and put them there so that pointy thing will not put a hole in your cover and also keep an eye on the black straps rubbing the cover. Depending on wind direction, etc, those straps can rub the cover and wear then out. If that starts to happen, just leave them loose.
5 - Sanitize at least once a year is a good practice. Also, do not let water standing in the tank. I always drain the tank when I arrive home and leave it empty when not in use.

You may consider to add protection against rodents, vipers, etc. Those are screens to add to your hot water heater, furnace exhaust/intake, back of the refrigerator, etc to keep them out.

About mice, the best thing in my experience is to have a neighbor that have two cats that stay outside all the time . But in the case that is not your situation, I would think about some product that would repel then ....

Congratulations on your new trailer!
We just winterized ours and have it covered until spring. As far as keeping critters out we have had good luck with original scented Bounch sheets placed in a lot of the nooks and something called Fresh Cab Botanical rodent repellent. We also brought most stuff indoors for the winter; water hoses, food, etc. better safe than sorry.

Agree with the above BUT many delaminations have been blamed on the unit being covered. Most often on the rear wall.

Possibly by the heat of the sun in hot climates? Do you have any further insight into this?

It has been mentioned before here. Condensation then heat. Usually the rear wall as it is made a little different. Moisture gets in front of the luan. Usually if the rear is facing south. Can happen on any wall facing any direction. NOT just in hot climates.
For 43 years I've put a good coat of wax on in the fall and checked the roof and never a problem left uncovered.
If you do cover make sure it is tight as rubbing can cause problems as well. Many cover without a problem too.
Everyone must do what they think best,

Mini Lite 2109S owner here....

1 If you COMPLETELY feel safe where you are storing the unit, no. If not, bring it home. I always bring my TV home during the winter.

2 Leave the cable connected all the time like others say.

3 I ALWAYS put my stabilizers down in the winter. WIND is not friendly to lightweight campers. We get high winds in the winter, I don't need heavy snow and winds bearing down on the tongue jack.

4 Lots of pros and cons to covers. You'll get a 50 50 say so here on that, I checked into it too. I don't cover mine.

5 Be safe, sanitize. that's a cheap fix.

Disconnect your battery and take it home. Trickle charge as needed to keep it fresh.
Be sure there is NO water in the camper, if so, drain it and be sure to pull the plug on the hot water heater so it's completely drained. Lots of videos on that on YouTube.
If I could store my propane tanks here (I'm in a townhome, it's illegal), I'd bring them home so they can't be stolen.
All windows closed completely? Vents snug? Snow & water will find a way in.

Have a ball!!!! Welcome to funville.

1905 Here Too!

We have a 2018 1905 also.

Just two of us, we love it!

Ours is witerized now, due to a week of cold weather came through, but we are going camping this weekend, so we will unwinterize, then winterize it after this trip and it will stay in our driveway till spring.

Good luck with yours! Enjoy.
