2021 Rockwood Ultra Lite 2706ws - Bedroom TV Mount

I purchased the Ramco tv mount, that matches the dealer installed outside mount, to install in the bedroom of our 2021 Rockwood Ultra Lite 2706ws.

Tapping the wall where the ‘TV Mount’ sticker is located seems very hollow and is making me nervous in drilling holes into it hoping the sticker placement is correct. I purchased a magnetic stud finder (The StudBuddy) and moved it across the wall. It only stuck to a section that was approximately 1 foot to the right of the sticker, closer to the sliding bedroom door. Tapping this section also feels like something is behind the wall.

Do any of you with this model have a picture of where your tv mount was placed? I’m assuming my backer plate will be in the same area.

Also, any recommendations on the type of screw and/or screw length to use?

I would check again with the stud finder, or try another type.

My plate was big, about 18x18, centered on the sticker.

I have a different model, 2021 2608bs but I would think they use the same backer plate.

You can email the Flagstaff/Rockwood address on their webpage and they may be able to give you a copy of the that section of blueprints. The did that for me when I bought my camper 2016. It had the measurements from the door to the center of the plate.

I used a very very small drill bit to locate the area of the backer I would use for the final location and sheet metal screws for the tv mount.

We don't have your unit, but this worked for us: We had a wall switch and a 12V plug on the mounting wall. Removing the switch and plug, I used a flashlight and small (wife's compact) mirror to look up inside the wall. Our backer went all the way across the panel. I then slid a tape measure up through the switch opening and used my fingers to press the tape against the inside of the wall. When I was certain it hit the bottom of the backer, I recorded the distance at the opening. From that distance, I measured to the ceiling, then subtracted the distance from the opening to the bottom of the backer. I could then locate the TV mount anywhere above the bottom of the backer.

Having done that, I routed 12V and 115V AC to the area of the TV mount thus being able to conceal the wiring. The 12 V was for the TV and 115V was for the DVD player. I made a shelf to hold the DVD above the TV and attached the DVD player to the shelf with industrial self adhesive Velcro. The DVD was easily accessible without being an obstruction and would not slide off the shelf.

We are still waiting for our 2706WS to arrive, but we did look at one at CW and the tv was located on the wall between the exit door and the sliding door to the kitchen. I hope this helps a little.

Thank you. Yes that’s where the sticker placement is on ours but my magnetic finder wasn’t sticking to the location. I’ll have to try a different magnet.

FYI - I reached out to Rockwood/Flagstaff customer service and the following image was provided. By the looks of the outlet placement, etc I don’t believe this to be the model I have but gives me a general idea of how big the backing plate is. Their recommendation was to utilize a 3/4” screw for mounting.

As I said in earlier post, used a very small bit to verify placement of mounting screws. Stub finder was not accurate. Don't remember if I tried a magnet. Easy to fill holes if wrong. With that wall color and pattern, you don't see them. Plus tv covers everything.
The backing plate is thin metal plate 'glued' to back of wall.

The backer in our RV was wood glued to the panel. A magnet would be of no use. There were no studs in the area of the backer.

I noticed your mount allows you to adjust the viewing angle. Does it also “lock” into place while traveling? If so would you share the make/model of the bracket?

The mount was purchased around 2017 and eBay does not keep records accessible back that far and we no longer have the Sunseeker. To answer your question, there was a spring loaded pin device that locked the mount for travel. It had a lanyard to activate the pin. As I recall, it also had a locking device to remove the TV from the mount without having to remove the fasteners from the back of the TV. The wall attachment plate was large and very substantial to avoid coming away from the wall. At that time it was a good value at around $75. It may have been more.

Also note the small web pocket mount to the wall above the light switch. We found that at a truck stop while travelling. It was perfect for storing the TV remote.

The below attachments are similar. The second mount has the ability to remove the TV from the major portion of the mount. The "C" shaped arm style with the arm to the TV between the c points (like a barn door hinge) appears to be a stronger design. Be sure to read the reviews. The second example has some locking issues.
