2023 rockwood 2506s, WIFI Ranger frustration

First, support from Wingard (the owners of wifi ranger) have been no help at all. After multiple emails it is obvious they have no intention to provide any customer service.

If anyone has figured out any odd tricks to connect the wifi ranger to the internet, please share.

I can connect to the control panel, I can see my home wifi but it won't connect to the internet.

Thanks!

When I got my trailer, I was kind of excited to use the Wifi Ranger. After all, I have 35+ years in IT, including large wifi deployments. I tried and tried to get it working, I gave Wingard a call, and they suggested I take that one out and install their newer upgraded one. No thanks. On a whim, I tried it again last weekend while we were on a trip and I had the same problem, it'll start to configure then it crashes.

What did I do? Well, for simple situations, I just use this and I absolutely love it.

It's really fast, they keep it updated frequently, it supports both VPN client privacy services such as PIA VPN, NordVPN, etc., and it also allows VPN setup back to my home. It has family web filtering built in, multiple SSIDs including one for guests, the works.

For harder to reach situations such as when we are at music festivals and they only have one AP on hundreds of acres, I use a setup similar to this. If you aren't trying to reach an AP in a park that's hundreds (or more!) of yards away, this would be overkill for you.

The WiFi Ranger doesnt connect to the internet perse. It will connect to an available WiFi signal and give you a central point to connect all your devices. If there is no WiFi available where you're staying, it won't do anything.

I have only stayed at a few places that had WiFi available. We were able to get it connected to the park WiFi (took my wife 30-45 minutes to figure it out) and got our devices connected to the Ranger. It worked but, in my opinion, it wasn't worth the hassle. If you have a seasonal site with WiFi available it might be worth while.

I gave up on WiFi Ranger six months after I bought our camper. Never could get it to work and rarely do we stay in a CG with internet.
We recently had our RV roof repaired and resealed. I had the piece of junk WiFi ranger removed and covered the hole. The ranger itself was full of water, corroded, rusty, and totally useless (a leak waiting to happen).
We use a Verizon hotspot while traveling with good luck 95% of the time.

It’s a useless prop IMO and I also plan on removing it. Like previously stated, it’s not worth the hassle.

Yep just another gimmick to try to sell campers to people that have no idea.

I would just remove it and put a good TV antenna.

The TV / AM.FM antenna on ours did not pick up anything. I bought a cheap antenna and separate FM antenna on amazon and attached it to to the top works 10000% better. I just left the ranger thing if we ever trade or sell the camper. I would never turn it on...
