2608 hitch Wt.

They may be trying to balance it out. 60 gal FW tank at the very rear of the trailer has created problems with light tongue wt. I know my 2608 is heavier than what they said it was and I still have to be careful to balance the TT if I have a full tank of FW.

My length is 29' 11", but it is an early 2021. This might be one of those changes FR likes to make mid-year.

Interesting change too is the fresh water tank is now only 54 gallon instead of 60 gallons. We never travel with tanks full or even half full..btw. Maybe they are saving money by shortening sizes? Kind of seems like the new method products are being sold..don't raise price, just repackage in slightly smaller pkgs and no one will notice..lol!!

Tongue weight is 946. Our truck 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel can have 1488. And we were told that is way to high. Because you have to add propane, people weight plus anything in the truck. That’s why we got our deposit back from the order snd found a 2507s at another dealer on the lot with a tongue weight of 625. We were also told by every dealer and by everyone on here not to tow more than 25’.

We have the table and chairs (don't like bench seats) also went with the sofa as our dog doesn't like theater seats (she is a chocolate lab and sleeps on the sofa)
Your #3 is interesting because I just picked up a 2021 2608bs and it has a pull down shade on both door windows. Did not see it at first but it's black and pulls down from top of window.

My wife and kids follow in a separate vehicle, which gives me a bit of wiggle room as far as weight in the truck is concerned before getting close to the truck’s max payload capacity. As such, I don’t anticipate I will ever get close to maxing out either the trailer or the truck capacity.

Specifically, for those of you that have pulled these or similar travel trailers, how does it handle? I have a 2015 5.3L V8 4WD GMC Sierra short bed with a 3.42 axel ratio and an equalizer anti-sway WD hitch. The truck can pull it, but I would like some feedback from those who’ve had actual experience pulling either the 2608BS or 2614BS with a half-ton. A bigger truck isn’t in the budget right now and I am coming from pulling a Rockwood Roo 22 foot that weighed about 4500 pounds on a typical trip with the same truck. I am generally comfortable towing.

Thanks for your thoughts in advance.

Jason
I am pulling my 2021 2608bs home from Indiana now with a f150 3.5 eco boost short bed and tow package. I have the brake controller, 36 gal tank, trailer backup assist, 3:55 rear, 1731# ccc. This truck is doing a great job. Hit 20-40mph winds leaving Indiana 2 weeks ago and the trailer hardly moved. Also not much sway from passing tractor trailers either. Only getting 9mpg so glad I have the 36 gal tank, I have the equalizer 12000/1200 wdh. Hope this helps

They made the change to the pull down shade after the 2019 model (which is what we have). Had a pull down door shade in another trailer we owned, got wet more than one time pulling the shade after it started raining!

I hope your eco boost lasts. I had a 2012 F150 eco boost. We towed a Nash for 5 years, same size and weight as the 2608bs. 4 times I had plug, boot, coil failure after towing 1000 miles. The last time I lost my front main seal. I loved that truck but it’s still a half ton and a V6. Towing heavy loads for long distances was literally killing my truck. Bought an F250 when we bought this trailer. It hardly knows it’s back there.

Ultra Lite 2608-Cancelled

It seems I just posted on this thread that we had ordered our 2608BS, and now I’m posting that we cancelled that order. After some good advice from many of you and further research on RAM forums, we decided to make a change. Though the 2608BS was the perfect TT for us, it was not necessarily the best for our payload-challenged RAM (that’s a subject on its own). We’ve instead decided to order a MiniLIte 2315S, a totally new model in that series. It is so new, our dealer has the only known pics. This TT is more in line with where we started our search for a trailer. Like many first-timers, we became enamored with the larger trailers in the 2600 series, which in hindsight was not the best for our first trailer. Our dealer (Wana RV in Indiana) was very helpful in changing the order to the 2513S, though they plan to keep the 2608BS on order for their inventory (look for a very well-equipped unit in Mar/Apr). We’ll use the MiniLIte for a few years (maybe less) and see what our needs/wants are at that time. Maybe back to the 2608 and another new truck? Still love that floor plan. Interestingly, there is a MiniLIte version of the 2608BS, though it too is a little nose-heavy. It would be within our RAM’s ability, but again press up against the payload. That’s the cost of those nice bells and whistle on the RAM.

So, thanks to you that responded for your advice and encouragement. I’ll hop on over to the MiniLite section of this forum if there is one, and hope there are equally informed and decent folks. I gained a new friend and ‘neighbor’ in my short time on this thread and hope to meet him and his bride in person someday.

We are looking forward to picking up out trailer in April and discover our new lifestyle as we travel back to CA.

Ken and Kris

PS: Let me complement this forum for its general decorum. I can’t believe how quickly other sites devolve in to a few guys having “shouting” matches on who has the most knowledge and testosterone (my guess is they are actually lacking in said T hormone, and this is their way of pretending they still have it). The OP is usually forgotten after the first few responses. That’s why I’ve never joined a forum until this one. There may be some on this forum too, but I haven’t seen it. Thanks.

Smile New 2513

Hi Ken & Kris. good choice, that 2513 looks like it's going to be a nice unit. Wish you all the best with it.

By the way, you can still stay on this forum too. A number of folks follow multiple forums because they have multiple interests.

All the best to you,

Well thought thru, pushing your trucks capacity can make trips unpleasant. We purchased a unit that was within our trucks capabilities and found we enjoyed the camping experience. We had smaller unit for one season then up graded to a 3/4 truck and a 26fkbs, sister to the unit you first ordered. If you do decide to upgrade in a year or two consider selling to private party rather than a trade in. RV Trader worked well for us. Good luck with your new rig. Now you can spend a few months planning you adventures.

Good for you. From what I’ve learned on here. You will be less stressed about pulling this unit. We too wanted that unit. It’s beautiful. But not worth risking your life or your tow vehicle. We are picking our 2507s up today after canceling our 2608. Happy camping!!

She arrived at the dealer this morning, working on delivery timeline now. Maybe Saturday, likely next week due to Thanksgiving.

The 2608 is my dream camper. Just not sure about towing it with my V8 F150. Still trying to figure it out.

That will not be a pleasant experience. I used to have an F150 V8 and towed a 25’ with no slides. It weighed 2,000 lbs less than our 2608. That was more than I wanted to be towing on long grades.

The weak spot will be your F150's payload capacity and hitch receiver capacity since that TT could easily have a loaded tongue weight around 1100lbs. Possibly more.

2608BS

Congrats Jeffmarshall911. Still our favorite floor plan. Maybe after we get some mileage out of our RAM 1500/MiniLite 2513s combo. Tigger68, I'm still quite the rookie here, but as bikendan says the 2600 class of Rockwood will tax most 1/2 ton truck's payload (as i found out just in time to cancel my order). Others have said they tow just fine, and I don't disagree. However, due to my Newbie status I deferred to more experienced RVers and changed to the 2513s. My RAM was new, so not an option to dump it for the 2608BS. It is a great looking TT for sure.

Wise decision. I tow mine with a F250 and I am glad I do. Even with a 250 I know that trailer is back there but for the most part it’s a comfortable tow. However when I tow with a full water tank I really know it’s back there. I can get some tail wag because the water tank is located the the rear of the trailer. Some have reported towing fine with a half ton but I’m glad I’m not attempting to do so.

Went and saw her on Saturday; not a formal PDI, more of a 'is this what you ordered and expected?' run through. And of course, giving them the $$$.

The rig is cataloged as a 2020.5 model year on the build sheet. All legal paperwork says 2021.

Options from the pick-list:
Newport Ash Interior
Full Bedroom Carpet
12v Refrigerator which adds 190w Solar Panel & Inverter
15k Front AC
Slide Toppers
Kitchen MaxxAir Vent & cover

Once ordered, we saw a YouTube video that showed new 2020.5 theater seating, it has a fold-up center arm rest. We requested and got that one.

First, exterior shots. Should be self explanatory.

And you cannot get into this upper center cabinet when the slide is in.

Kitchen (note that both 120v outlets shown are labeled "Inverter Powered", more on that in a subsequent post)

I don't know what I'm going to put in this space, but there will be something. Wine rack comes to mind.

The specs on the fridge as installed.
