It's basically an awning for the slideout.

... the purpose of which is to prevent/reduce rainfall and leaf litter from collecting on the roof of the slide-out. All of that ends up inside your trailer when you pull it in unless you wipe/sweep it off before doing so. And, in a downpour, that doesn't work, anyway. You still get water inside.

It's kinda like an awning for your slide-outs. Helps keep the slide-out roof clean from leaves and other stuff, also helps prevent water intrusion from rain. My slides are extended for 6 months for the past 7 years and I've never had a problem with rain getting in, even during a downpour. It also keeps the slide-out area cooler by shading the roof from direct sunlight. Seeing how the windows and vent fan keeps the trailer comfortable we only used the AC a couple days a season.

Look at the first attached picture you will see the topper on my dining room slide. The second picture shows the toppers on the bedroom and kitchen/living room slides.

Purchased our 2109S in April 2019. Up till now I have had the sink fall down and when I went to repair it 2 of the 4 clips that were holding the sink under counter were on the floor. Not sure if they were never installed or they just came out. The screws holding the clamps could not have been any more than 1/2" long. Installed 2 strips of metal strap on the underside of the sink bowels, screwed to each of the wood strips that are next to the sink. That took care of that issue. While dealing with that issue I noticed that the plastic fender liner that is inside the sink cabinet was loose and when I put my hand on it to check it out I could push it down and there was daylight. Would not have been good especially traveling in extended rain which would have allowed water inside the unit under the sink. Used 10 self taping washer screws and on the outside installed the screws into the liner which also attached to the metal strip that the liner had been caulked to. Finished that and sealed it with exterior Vulkem polyurethane caulking. All these issues happened after the 1 year warranty had expired. I blame these issues on quality control at the factory. Had a 2006 Jayco and never had these kind of issues with it. Units are now made as light and cheap as possible to allow smaller vehicles to be able to tow them.
