2109s - The Wait is Over!

Almost 8 months to the day since ordering we finally got our new 2109s. It was a bit of an anxious wait as four months ago our dealer informed us he was selling his dealership due to health reasons to another dealer in the area and that Rockwood had approved to take over his franchise. Our original dealer had price protected us (from around 7k in increases as it transpired) and the new dealer said he would honour the deal, but the skeptic in me was still a bit worried. As it turned out all worries were for naught, the trailer arrived with all factory options ordered (gray/white colour, extra solar panel, extra max air fan/vent, slide topper, ash interior) and the new dealer was great! We’ll be loading gear this weekend in prep for a shakedown cruise next week and a 17,000 km road trip this summer. Our overall first impression of the trailer is very good…couple of minor issues noticed I can handle myself. It seems it was definitely worth the wait!

Congrats! My wife and I just returned from our inaugural trip in our new (to us) 2019 2109S. 1500 miles to Grand Canyon, Death Valley, Las Vegas and home to Northern Nevada. Trailer performed flawlessly and we are very happy with it. Terrifying winds on a good portion of the trip (including the 9 hour drive home from Vegas) so I highly recommend you have an anti sway setup for your hitch! I hope you will be happy with your 2109. Good luck and Happy Camping!

Congrats, Terry & Co.! Glad the new dealer honored the pricing quoted; I know that was a blessing.

Congratulations on your MiniLite. We are only 3 months into our 9 month wait. I've got some yard changes to plan and make in the mean time, so not all doom and gloom.

We will be using our 2109 quite a bit this summer. In 2 weeks going to Clio CA with friends for 4 nights, then Fallen Leaf Lake with friends for 5 nights (Tahoe), then a few boondocking trips, and finally, Glacier NP in late August. We have been very lucky in that in our neighborhood, we have 3 sets of close friends and neighbors - all with Mini Lites - that we regularly camp with. It's been great!

Congrats, great camper for 2. We had a 2015 2109s and had little to no problems with it.

Happy 2109S Camper

Welcome, I have, and love, my 2017, 2109S. The only suggestion I have,
ditch the stock tires in favor of the Goodyear Endurance. I waited a couple of years to do but it made a world of difference in the towing safety, in my opinion. Stiffer sidewall, higher pressure make for less effect of the oncoming or rear approaching semi most noticeably.
I hope you are as happy as I am six years down the road.

Congrats on the new Mini Lite. I’m curious which Rockwood dealer went out of business and which one picked up the contracts?

The dealer that closed due to health reasons was Recreational Sales and Storage and the dealer that bought them out was Great Canadian RV. So far our dealings with both have been great.

I think I've read on this forum that the newer versions of the 2109s have reinforced the holding brackets for the fresh water tank. If not, be sure to do that. We have a 2014 2109s that we love -- it's been up the Arctic Circle twice and out to Newfoundland and Labrador, plus many trips to the west and southwest. My only complaint has been those relatively weak brackets. Fortunately, I noticed them bending in time and had them reinforced.

In any event, good luck with your new TT. Ours has brought us immeasurable adventure and joy!

We had exactly the same problem with our 2012 2109S. I read about a tank that broke the steel straps on this forum and immediately checked our new trailer. After one trip with a full tank, the plastic bottom was bowing downward. I reinforced it with a stronger steel strap between the two OEM ones and we never had another problem. But, being supercautious, we never traveled with a full tank again, particularly on the frost-heaved roads in BC, YK, and Alaska.

A problem we had on the Alaska trip was the four lag screws holding the slide motor to the wall pulled out after driving the Top of the World "Highway" (I use the term loosely). To repair it, I built a wooden, floor-mounted cradle on an RV park picnic table in Whitehorse. Hopefully, that problem was rectified long ago by Rockwood.

It may sound like we had significant problems with the 2109S, but it was perfect for our needs for 3 years and 27,000 miles. But it also helps to be handy with tools.

So, congratulations to the OP and I hope he enjoys traveling many "smiles" with his new RV!
