2306 Battery usage

Hello! My family and I are on our second year of our 2015.5 Mini-Lite 2306. Amazing trailer and we use it as often as possible. I recently took my trailer out for some dry camping with a new battery system. I set-up two six-volt batteries on the trailer. Everything was great and I am very happy with how it went. I knew going into it that the big things like A/C and the microwave would not work, but I was surprised that none of the outlets worked. I am sure this is just ignorance, but I expected those to work. Can anyone give me some input if there is a way to get those to work on a battery system? The only thing I was hoping for was maybe getting the TV to work and pick up a local station. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

The outlets inside and outside of your unit operate from the 110 volt shore power cord. When you unplug the trailer they, along with the microwave and AC won't work. To run something like the tv when only using batteries you need to buy inverter. We use a 400watt unit plugged into the 12volt outlet for the tv. I have also added a 750 watt unit to run an extra fridge and a crock pot while traveling. Jay

During your PDI, they should've explained how the two different electrical systems work.
The outlets are 110v AC, NOT 12v DC.

Only some Motorhomes have factory INverters that are connected to the outlets, cause it would take 4 or more deep cycle batteries to be able to provide power to the outlets.

We got a 400w inverter installed and wired to our dual batteries to run our tv and dvd and to recharge electronic devices.

They make television sets that operate on 12 volt current if that is your main concern. Inverter's can use a lot of power and drain batteries quickly so keep a close eye on battery power if you go that route.

wtjimbo: Assuming you have a Dometic fridge, you might also want to disconnect the door heater in the fridge. It pulls about 0.5 amps from your batteries. I've attached a doc showing how to de-energize it. If you don't mind not having a light inside the fridge, you could just pull the wire off of pin J2 (or wire an on/off switch into the wire at J2).

De-energizing refer door heater

My Dometic refer has two wires going to J2 pin. If you unplug the wrong one you will de-energize the cooling fan in the back of your fridge that keeps your coils cool. I know!

Good to know! ("Most" of us don't have the factory fan.)
