2509S slide question

We're going to go take a look at the 2509S again, but we know the slide is out and the dealer doesn't keep batteries in them for obvious reasons.

The question is, can we get to the bathroom if the slide is retracted? Is there enough room between the dinette and the kitchen counter to get past?

Any other comments to look for are welcome.

I don't have a 2509S, but if you're looking at one at the dealer, I would go outside and measure the distance from the slides outer wall "flange" to the outside wall of the TT. Then go inside and measure the same distance from the slides inside wall "flange" towards the inside of the TT. That will tell you how far the slides inside wall flange will come in when you retract it. Then measure your own width and how much room is left and decide if you can get past it.

If you are seriously looking make the dealer install a battery so that you can see exactly how much room you have

Well yes, I have asked them to do that, but they are closed until Tuesday and I figured someone on this forum with a similar unit might be able to answer that before then.

I did measure the slide on the outside and it looks to me that it's going to be awfully tight, if not impossible to slide by to get to the bathroom with the slide in, but the way the dinette seats are in comparison to the free standing table, it might just have enough room in the middle to get by.

Help was spread a little thin at the dealership Saturday and no service guys were there.

I just figure someone here will know if they see my question.

Ggimlick-
The dealer shouldn't need a service guy to get battery power in a TT. All dealerships have a portable battery pack that the salesman can carry out to the trailer and clip onto the battery leads. My dealer does it all the time.

Or just drive your (or any) vehicle up to the TT and use some jumper cables to your car battery.

I caught them at a bad time the other day. I've known this dealer for years and bought three units from him. Unfortunately the other day they only had the parts girl and one sales girl there covering the morning and it was a pretty Saturday so there were several people on the lot looking. Paula was doing her best to cover everyone and since I wasn't going to buy that particular one (wrong interior colors), I wasn't going to make her day worse by insisting she get a powerpak.

I'm not in a rush. I'll order it the way I want, but I was just hoping to get an easy answer here.

This is a challenge because we're downsizing from a 34' motorhome and trying to decide just how small we can go and live with the compromise.

I have this unit, 2018. You cant get to the bathroom with slide in unless you go over dinette.

Thank you! I was afraid that might be the answer and not the one I was hoping for, but important to know. Being able to get thru with the slide in is pretty important so now we have some more thinking to do.

We just got a 2509s and the carpeted edge of the slide comes all the way to the edge of the kitchen cabinet when it's in. You can slip by the side of the dinette bench because the benches don't go all the way to the edge of the carpet, but the table gets in the way. You can step on the table if you want to get past the slide to the bathroom or the fridge/bunks. Or you can store your dinette table behind the couch when traveling (there's lots of space there) and you can more easily slip by the closed slide.

2509S with Slide in

We have a 2509S and there is a small space between the dinette and kitchen cabinets with the slide in. We are able to squeeze through.

Thanks, That's the info I'm looking for :-) It's unfortunate that it looks like it's almost impossible to get to the bathroom with the slide in. I heard back from Rockwood customer service this morning too and they echoed your comments, but they said "it's no big deal to just run the slide out".

Well, it sorta is if you're just stopping enroute to someplace and want to hit the bathroom quickly. I know we're a little spoiled because we've been able to just run down thru the motorhome to get to ours in the past. But, our previous towables all had accessible baths with slides in, so we do want that.

We'll get to the dealer later this week if things work out and they'll pull the slide in so we can see if it's something we can live with.

Thanks for all the input.
