2906ws swaying

We have a Rockwood 2906ws pulling it with a 2017 f150 and are having way to much swaying when on the road. Have a equalizer hitch with sway bar but very disappointed in control we are having. Any ideas what the problem may be Also do not think our water heater is very hot only seems to be warm at best, no good ideas from dealer. Thanks for the help

Well, u'r pulling a 35' TT with a 150. Sure it's going to twist you around. Hard to explain but you can feel it. I used to pull my 34' windjammer with a 150 ecoboost and it was white Knuckle driving frequently. Switched to an f250 and a whole different driving experience. I know, I know, not everyone can afford that option but think about it. I tried everything with the 150 and nothing worked.

Rgarding sway, X2 on what Handydc said. I bet your salesman said "Oh, a 1/2 ton can pull this trailer!"

On your water heater, check that your water heater bypass valve is fully closed. Also check that your outside shower faucets are fully closed. If they are open, but the shower is shut off with the push-button thingy on the shower head, it will allow cold water to flow into the hot water piping.

We pull our 2018 Rockwood Ultralite 8328BS with a 2015 RAM 3500 with a Cummins diesel & I use the same Equalizer hitch on it that I've used on our previous 2 TT since 2003. Yours and my TTs are very similar; however, my dry weight is about 2200 lbs higher than yours, plus my hitch weight is 1140 lbs. The Equalizer performs perfectly with no sway.

Be sure that it's installed correctly. If it's like mine, the L brackets should bolted on at 32" from the ball and locked in at the 5th hole from the top to start.

On our 2nd TT, the dealer moved our Equalizer from our trade in, but installed the L brackets too close to the ball, which allowed the TT to sway wildly once we reached 60 mph. Had to stop along the interstate during rush hour to correct it myself. After that, it was fine and that was when I pulled with a RAM 1500 Hemi and the camper was 6500 lbs dry.

Pull out your Equalizer manual and go through the installation again.

JGELAE, you say you have an Equalizer with sway bar.

Equal-i-zer is a brand of WDH that doesn't use sway bars.
It uses the 2 load bars and hitch head to control sway.

So it sounds like you have a regular WDH with a friction sway bar. So if you do, you probably need to add a second friction sway bar.

The four point equalizer hitch is great like the previous post go through the manual yourself don't rely on the dealer when you are loaded the truck and the trailer should be level any tilt will affect your sway

f150 probably has p-tires (for passenger cars) which do not have the same sidewall stiffness as a LT (light truck) tire. That alone will make it squirrely as hell.

You may want to upgrade tires on your 150.

We just purchased a 2017 FR Wildwood 31KQBTS. When we picked it up at the dealer, we had our 2016 F150 3.5EB SC with a payload capacity of 1940 lbs.

At the same time we purchased the 800-1200lb Husky Centerline trunion WD with built-in anti sway. We had a 100 mile trip back to the house down country roads, expressway and highway. Let me tell you, it was not a pleasant experience at all. Windy day, white knuckle, very stressful and slowed to 45 mph to maintain control.

One week later, I bought a Ram 2500 HD Crew Cab with 6.4l Hemi and it's a night and day difference. Pulling the same camper with similar conditions now with the Ram 2500 for nearly 800 miles now and it pulls phenomenal! Straight as an arrow and don't even notice the wind or a semi when they pass by.

X2. FWIW, my truck is 100% stock with the standard 20" tires. Very comfortable towing.

I couldn't believe the difference adding the second friction sway bar made. I tow a 29ft with a Ram 1500 and sway isn't an issue anymore.

I'm still interested if the OP has a true Equal-i-zer or is using the name as a generic term.
He has to be if he's using one sway bar.
