They can't be serious! This is an instructional video on how to repair these collapsed nose caps? What's going to push the dents back out?

Is there any way we can contact Forest River without going through a dealer?

The video shows the repair guys stuffing the foam under the cap but not how they got the dents out. Could be the cap is so thin that the styrofoam itself pushes the dent out. What holds the foam in place? Looks like it would work it's way down the nose and all of a sudden the dent is back. Looks like a DIY with a good glue.

After 3 weeks, F/R authorized a dealer repair to our 2014 8289WS. We're waiting on parts to arrive. Dealership has been professional and communicated well during this episode. We're hoping the fix is reliable--involves pulling the front cap and re-in forcing the supporting structure, I believe.

Not according to the video I got from from forest river. All they do is take it apart at the seam in the roof and stuff styrofoam in it. Pm me your email and I will send a copy of the video.

About 2 months after purchase (in May) after reading about this problem on the forum, and subsequent personal inspection of the RV.
Pics were submitted to the dealer and forwarded to F/R.

Dealer here in Arkansas has so far been cooperative and supportive.

I understand from the forum what the fix might entail..( loosen the cap from the roof and provide additional styrofoam stuffing)... hope it works. The maintenance guys in the dealer shop here seem to be pretty savvy; If anyone can make this fix work, it's my guess they can.

I do not have any dents in the front cap yet, but I was on a step ladder yesterday cleaning the bugs off and waxing the cap, There is a lot of give when rubbing wax on/off so my fear is that it will just be a matter of time. I hope to be able to mention it to a rep at Goshen.

I take mine in August 8th for the foam fix. Just wondering if anybody else has had there's fixed, and how they fixed it.

You shouldn't feel any give at all. Mine is a 2012 and I lay a latter against it, and I weight 225 lbs, and do not have any flex in cap at all. They changed something in production after 2012's came out. I get up there to check the seal so that's alot of weight laying against it with no flex at all. I would keep an eye on it...Good luck to you guy's. I really do not know what foam will do it still will compress, they need some backing structure behind them.

Can you do us a favor and check for any give near the top, about one foot in front of the seal. Just before the nose cap start seriously rounding downward. See pictures earlier in this thread.
We seriously appreciate any and all feedback in this thread.

I do not have any real give in that area, I can step on it at the roof line. There is not enough give that it would create the problem the shows in # 4 post that is hard as a rock. Tapping it. you do hear a thump. The center is only a shadow. taken from the right side

Here is another picture could only load one at a time. Above the round maybe 1/8" depression only. I would walk on it if it wasn't on an angle. It is light but can not see hoe it can cave in.

Still waiting for the foam fix. Dealer apparently has the video (?) but not the materials to complete the repair (?) Not sure what's up. Is manufacturer modifying the fix or dealer balking at a kludge job?....... Dealer hasn't communicated this week, as I had expected.

Unhappy Same problem on a 8280ws

We've had this trailer for just over 2 years now and noticed a dent similar to one described in this thread. Before the second year anniversary (we bought the optional second year warranty) we took the trailer into the dealer to have several little problems looked at. One being this dent in the front cap. The dealer told us they requested a warranty approval from Forest River and were told everything we wanted fixed, including the dent in the cap, was not covered under our second year warranty! What a waste of money that was!!

So now I know what the 'fix' is I guess if I want the dent out I'm going to have to do it myself or pay someone to do it.

Please let me know if anyone has this fix done, how it turns out.

Thanks in advance.

I see a dent in our 8289. I would like to know if they use the styrofoam fix. The FR dealer near me refused to do warranty work on my unit because I didn't buy from them, so far I have been able to do whatever came up. This looks like another DIY project unless the cap needs replacement for the correct fix. If it gets too involved I'll wait till next year and have FR do it as we plan on being at the rally in Goshen next year.
