8328BS Satellite Receiver Mount

Being that Rockwood didn't leave a great place for our Sat Receiver I found some brackets for mounting it and the hard drive. I pulled two additional coax and connected them to the sat in and bedroom antenna coax that was mounted in the upper cabinet. Before wires would have to hang out the cabinet door to hook everything up.

Thanks for the info. We have an 8329ss and I've been wanting to do this for a while. My biggest concern was the stability of that wall. Was there any kind of backing on that wall (besides for the television mount) that you were able to screw into?

The hard drive mount is into solid lumber. The Receiver is on the paneling, it doesn't seem to be all that flimsy. I used a plastic wedge type anchor in the thin stuff. I haven't been anywhere with it however.

This is the anchors I used, seem pretty solid.

Thanks very much for your post, ADK. If we ever upgrade we'll be going to a 5er like the Rockwood Signature 8289WS or the 8299BS. They seem to be taking away the shelf that's perfect for a satellite receiver and/or a Blu-ray player. You've come up with a great solution as long as the signal from the remote can find its way to the receiver behind the TV.

For my future reference and for anyone else looking to do this mod, do you have a link to those brackets?

There are a number of IR repeaters available that can handle this problem. Some are under $10).

Can you post a link to one. I don’t know much about that and whether or not one would work with my Canadian Bell satellite tv receiver.

Here's one. Web search will turn up lots of options, search on IR Repeater. Some expensive ones for home use feed the signal thru home wiring and control multiple items, often in other rooms. For a trailer, you need one of the low cost versions. If you check with your provider they might recommend one. They are pretty basic tools. One end that you mount out in the open receives the signal from your remote. The other end that you mount in front of the IR receiver on your satellite box passes on the signal. Some boxes have a jack that you can plug a remote receiver into. These have been very popular with home theater installs where the various components are often located out of sight in a cabinet.

If you notice on the front view I left the receiver sticking out about 1 inch on the left side, the remote seems to work just fine without a IR repeater.

Thanks ADK and SailorSam20500.

ADK, looks like a nice, clean installation. Well done!

ADK, this looks like the brackets you used.

I found them on Amazon.com today but Amazon's price is slightly higher than on the manufacturer's website.

I have been trying to copy a link off of Amazon and I am struggling at it. Yes, its the Hideit brand mount in a size M for the 211k receiver. I noticed a while ago that Hideit has it cheaper than Amazon at the moment. Here is a link for the small one and hope it works, if not it is a MTC02B videosecu on Amazon.

How "flat" is the assembly when all pushed in? My tv gets covered by a slide when closed up. I'm wondering if there would be enough room for me to do the same install. Don't want to rip the tv off when I close or open the slide!

I had to add 1/2 spacers between the tv and the original bracket, so its sticks out 1/2 inch farther than original. The original mount secures it in place just like before. The spacers was for the hard drive unit clearance. The tv is a toshiba and its tapered on the back side out towards each end.
