This question is like many here about winterizing.
Depending on the geographical area and how long it stays below freezing determines what many do. Good rule of thumb is... if you winterize the rest of your unit, whether it is by blowing out and/or using antifreeze, you should do something with the black tank flush.
The black flush is a non pressurized part of your plumbing system, meaning it only has pressure in that part of the plumbing when you have a hose attached. Both ends are open so when you remove the hose, no pressure remains and most of the water will self evacuate. Notice I said 'most.' There's a chance (like youroo said) for a small amount of water to remain in the spray nozzle. It's best to either blow it out or run some antifreeze through it.
I've put 1/4 turn shut-offs on my rig's low point drains which have garden hose fittings on them.
It is easy for me to take a short garden hose and attach to the shut-off valve and connect the other end to the black tank flush. I can purge my black tank flush with antifreeze in less than 30 seconds as I'm doing the rest of the camper.
