AC foam filter element

Has anyone else replaced this cheap foam element?

This is what I did at a total price of $1.04 for filter element from Home Depot. Took about 5 minutes to cut with a standard pair of scissors.

I have used in my prior TT blanket batting my wife had in with her sewing supplies. It was white and blended in with the AC grate better but I think that the stuff you used has a coating on it that would attract more dust making it a bit better of a choice.

Walmart has the filter foam, cut to fit.
