Smile Add Portable Speakers to 2306 TV??

Our DVD player quit and we now have a dvd player hooked up to our wall TV in our 2306. The sound is not that great (because the TV / DVD player does not go through the ceiling speakers) so we need to add some kind of portable speaker at least until after January when we can try and get the in wall DVD player fixed. Has anyone added a sound bar or portable speaker to the wall TV? Not sure how this would be done or if it can be done. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Gobblertales...you can hook a soundbar to any TV that has EITHER audio output jacks OR a headphone jack. You will need to find an outlet to plug it into for power...prolly the same one as the TV.
Alternatively...the red/white audio output jacks on the DVD player can be hooked up to the soundbar. The downside of this is that it will then ONLY work for DVD playing...not standard TV.
If a soundbar doesn't work for your space....you can also buy stereo pairs of powered speakers from simple computer speakers to audio engineer quality mini monitors. If you lean to the quality end...a bunch of active speakers can be seen here:

Thanks camaraderie ! It is a Tonka (tanka?) (something like that) TV (we just got home so the tv isn't in front of me) and it's the one that came with the RV. The DVD player is now hooked up to the TV via an hdmi cable so guessing we can hook the speakers up to the audio output jacks which are still open because everything sound etc. comes through the admi cable? The DVD player only has an hdmi hookup though too. If it did have the red/white audio it wouldn't be a problem because we really don't watch regular tv especially not he road. we prefer the DVD's. But a sounder would be great if we can hook it up and still use the hdmi cable for the dvd player? thanks

A bit difficult to understand your situation without pictures or model numbers.
IF your TV has audio output jacks OR a headphone jack then you CAN still use those to send the sound to the speakers BUT be sure you are not confusing red & white audio INPUT jacks with red & white OUTPUT jacks which are more rare these days. If it does NOT have an output jack set...there is still another alternative.

I understand your DVD player only has HDMI outputs. You can buy an HDMI to RCA composit cable...for about 5 bucks. Hook the Yellow RCA into the yellow video input on the TV...and the red and white jacks to your new speaker.

When you say your original built in DVD player quit, is it just the DVD part, or is the whole unit dead? Does the radio play? If it works, other than the DVD part, you should be able to use it to get sound to the speakers.

Hmmmmmmm Will double check on this next Wed when we get to the rV about the radio part. When we called the folks we bought the rv from they had said if we added an outside dvd player we would not get sound through the speakers so we just left it at that since he could not tell us how to add a external dvd player and be able to use the rv speakers....... we will check out the radio situation

If the unit will power on and the radio part still works you should be able to simply run a cable from the headphone output, or line out on your TV to the Aux input jack on the front of the sound unit.
