Addition of 2nd AC unit

Hello all,
We have a 2021 2613BS and am considering adding a second AC in bedroom. It is already AC ready, my question is how much will it cost me to add one?
Also, if I have a 15k in main room, can I add a 13.5 in bedroom without harm?

When we upgraded in December to the 2883ws the dealership stated that if we wanted the second AC in the bedroom (13.5K) it would be $1495.00.

The 2883ws is a 50 Amp service.

Just bought a 2883ws. Finding that one AC is not enough for the California heat. I saw some forums where the second AC unit has a separate 20 amp circuit and plug to shoreline. Anyone know if that is the case with the rockwoods?

I cannot find it at the moment. But someone makes an even smaller unit that is extremely quite. Which is exactly what you want above your head in the bedroom. And you don t need a big unit in the bedroom. I think it was rated at around 1.1 or so.

if you have a 50 A power cable its pre wired w/its own breaker. I'm getting prices now, if ome is available due to covid

I just added a 2nd to the front of my trailer recently. It's a Dometic Brisk Air II totaling approx $1270.00 w/install (approx 2hrs). It does a great job of cooling it down, but it's certainly not quiet however the noise helps me sleep at night while drowning outside noise at the same time.

The cost of the second AC unit will depend on how much of the job, you are willing to do yourself. A new 13.5 or 15K unit purchased online will run around $700.00, your most difficult task will be getting it onto the roof. Electrical connection is simple, white wire to white, black wire to black and green wire to ground. I installed a second 15K in the bedroom of our 5th wheel, got a man with small crane on his work truck to live the unit onto the roof. The unit is held in place by four bolts that are installed from inside the trailer.

I added a second ac to the bedroom. Main unit is the 15btu Dometic. The bedroom unit I choose is the Colman Mach 8, 13.5btu. Not too noisy and is lower profile than the Dometic low profile by quite a bit. Have to consider height with a full profile 5er. Very happy with the performance and sometimes run it on fan only at night.

I'm following this post as am interested in the same thing. Need low profile because of storage situation and looking for a quiet unit.

A 13.5 will run close to $800 and a 15k $900 right now online. And just be aware that if you buy online and install it yourself you might have issues getting warranty coverage on it if you have an issue.

I plan to use my tractor bucket to get it up there, so not too worried about that part. Handling it up there afterwards may be fun, as don't want to tear the roof membrane sliding it into position. My biggest fear is not getting it fully sealed. Is that part pretty straight forward? Does the unit come with a seal kit, or is that something to be purchased in addition to the unit?

You do not want to slide the AC unit on the roof for two reasons, one, you may damage the roof and two, you may dislodge and damage the seal that is in place on the bottom of unit. It is best to have someone to help you lift it into place on the roof. I installed a 15K Dometic unit that came with the seal, I had to order the inside ceiling control and attaching hardware in addition to the unit that goes on the roof. Once you get the unit in place on the roof, the rest is a easy operation.

I lifted mine above the trailer using a pully hanging from my rafters, my son held on to the rope, then backed the trailer up under it. Once I got it backed in just right spot I had my son lower to me and I only had to lift and move it a few inches to get it set. My Coleman came with a 1" seal already attached to the bottom. Once you get it centered over the hole and the inside plate, the bolts go in each corner. Mine had small red tabs in the corners that were a certain length, tighten the bolts down to compress the seal until the tabs touch the roof. Genius idea! I also went around it with self leveling caulking. Probably overkill and I may hate it if I ever have to remove the AC but didn't want the chance of any water leakage. Take your time cleaning up the old sealant from the vent, that membrane will stretch out of shape and can easily tear a hole . About 3 days planning and 6 hours later I had a second AC. Weight is about 90lbs
