Well, after six months I finally have brakes. From day one JAN 27,2011, I have not had good brakes on my 8285WS. had the "ROCKY" in the shop for the forth time. Every body said , adjusted brakes, fixed??, replaced backing plate, adjusted brakes fixed??, the third time, just adjusted brakes, replaced break away switch, Fixed??
I finally called AL-KO, told them my problem and that I was at my wits end with no brakes (well some, off & on) They told me to put it in a shop that works on Electric brakes and have the shop to call before starting work.
This I did Monday, they called today, said fixed. yes I have brakes that will throw you through the windshield, finally. They tested all the ele magnets, found the right rear was defective (shorted). Replaced it, I have to celebrate that I have brakes after six months and 3800 miles.
The moral to this story, do not take anyone's word about testing the magnets. Make them show you the one removed, crawl under your RV to make sure you have new wires sticking out of the backing plate.
All the other repair shops kept telling me that was the way ele brakes work, just so, so. I knew better---------
