Am I missing something? About my Awning Cover....

We have a FR Rockwood TT that we like very much. It has the metal awning cover that is attached at the top, and rolls over the awning as you close it.

However, EVERY TIME I open it, or adjust the angle of the trailer, water just pours out of it. It seems that this cover is trapping water and keeping my awning bathed in standing water all the time. Living in the northwest US, we get rain/sprinkles/water in many forms, and this is not what I expected the awning cover to do. Sure, it protects the awning from the sun, but who needs it to be bathed in standing water all the time?

I was hoping you would get some other replies to this. We DO NOT have the awning covers and had regretted not ordering them when we ordered our 2014.

When in storage and anytime we have rain water gets into our awning and runs out when we run the awning out. There was a period of time when we were not able to take it out for several months and the water caused mold looking stains on the white underside of the awning. I have tried awning cleaner and I even brought it home long enough to power spray the underside of the awning. Power spray helped but did not get all the stains out.

I would have thought that the awning cover would have kept the water out of yours.......

Mine came as a package, but I would have opted for one if asked. Something isn't right. I too had hoped for more comments. I've been thinking I posted in an obscure area. Thank you for your reply. I'll give this a few more days and maybe see if I need to repost elsewhere on the site. I expect there is some experience and expertise out there that will benefit us.

I think it's a combination of condensation and water wicking in. I don't have the metal cover on mine. I agree it's annoying having water dripping off the bottom of the awning when you open it.

Make sure the awning is rolled up correctly. On many awnings, it is possible to roll up the awning inside out. Once extended, the awning will roll up inside out if you continue to hold the power button. This allows water to be trapped in the awning. I have seen several people set up this summer and when they deployed their awning, it was rolled up inside out. The top of the awning should be on the outside of the rolled up section of the awning.

Curious. That's one I haven't heard of. Will check out how it rolls up today. At this time I'll give almost anything a try.

X2. Seems like to roll it up the wrong way, you'd have to be pushing the EXTEND button, not the RETRACT button. Could certainly happen, but ...

I have a awning cover and when we get rain it does get trapped in the cover, I usually go to the arm in the rear of the trailer and pull down on it so it collapses. Just be ready because there will be a fair amount of water coming out of it. I don't believe you can roll it up the wrong way with the cover on it because it would roll over the cover then.
