Anyone ever had a GFCI keep popping for no reason

We've been out quite a few times with our 8327SS. It's wired for 50amp service but don't have 2 a/c's and just the other usual stuff. The bathroom outlet keeps popping, sometimes it will do it while driving to a campground (we arrive there and it's tripped) and 3 times now it's popped while hooked up to shore power with nothing on but the TV, maybe the radio on outside and a interior light on.

Either a bad GFCI or a leak somewhere in the circuit. Hate GFCIs but when you need them...they are there.

They don’t usually trip while driving since they are always 120vAC. Could be bad as stated above.

The GFCI is probably defective, but if it has been that way since RV was new, could be miswired.

In our trailer we had the bathroom gfi would never reset after it tripped water had gotten into it as it really is too close to the sink and a little water splashed in it, turned out bad gfi receptacle . replaced and never had the problem. This happened while we were traveling in it for 2 months. fix it in the rv park.

Unless they are possibly wired to an inverter?

To the OP, you stated you have a 50 amp RV but not a second air. Are you perhaps using any kind of adapter to plug in at a campgrounds 30 amp outlet?

X2. I've replaced several in my house and RV. Cheap and easy to replace. If it still pops after replacement, you will have to look further.

The kitchen and outside outlets are daisy-chained through the bathroom GFCI on almost every RV. If any one of them gets damp, the bathroom GFCI will trip and ALL the downstream outlets will be dead.

Has your outside outlet gotten wet? Recent rain showers or sprinkler or pressure washer? Spray some WD-40 on a rag and wipe those other outlets down. Find which ones are downstream by plugging in a nightlight or other appliance into each one.

I had one in the bathroom that did that and it turned out to be caused by the outside plug getting damp because I was using it and had the cover up. they were all on the same GCFI I guess. I had the awning out but just the moisture in the air tripped it.

Out of the 3 times this tripped while we were at a site 1 time we had to dog bone down to 30 amp service, other 2 times were were at a 50 amp site all the times we've been plugged into our Progressive surge protector both a 30 and a 50 amp one.

The cause could be as simple as a bad earth or a not-so-good connection at the GCFI or elsewhere in the circuit, which can make it hard to track. Pull the plugs on all appliances before testing then plug them in one at a time. You'd be surprised what can cause the drop-outs.

"pop for no reason"?

They always pop for a reason, you just have to find it.

I've found outside outlets on my TT's to be problems. They get wet all the time from rain, road spray (with snow melt chemicals like salt), and washing.

After replacing the outside outlets on my last two TT's for that reason I've decided to put a switch inline to my outside outlet if it happens on my new TT.

That way I can remove it from the circuit and replace it if I darn well feel like it which is probably never as I rarely use outside outlets. New trailer has two outlets in the Outside Kitchen so I won't be without if I really need.

An alternative of course would be a totally weatherproof cover. One with a screw on cap sealed with a rubber gasket.

Lots of other possibilities. Coffee makers, toasters, etc, but they usually pop the GFCI when you plug them in.

Something is definitely wrong,,,
No way a GFI should pop when not hooked to shore power !!!
I would start by replacing GFI,,, good place as any to start !!!

Our GFCI in bathroom previously went off after someone used the shower. We figured out that it was very sensitive to the humidity generated from the shower use.
Problem was easily fixed by plugging in those inexpensive plastic child-proof safety plugs.
