Anyone modded dinette seat ends?

We have a 2507S with the U shaped dinette. We often sit on the seats with our backs to the wall and our legs on the seat, lengthwise, but our feet/ankles hang over the end. Where our feet/ankles hang over is the hard leather-like covered strip at the end of the dinette which I am sure is done not only to keep the cushions in place, but also to be decorative.

Has anyone removed these hard end pieces? Wondering what is the best way to remove the 5 fasteners on this? Hubby began to do this but found they seemed to be in really solid and didn't want to break them so that if we decide perhaps for resale reasons to reattach them, we can.Click image for larger version

I’m curious also as our camper has the exact ones. Very uncomfortable sitting with that curved board on your leg.

My camper is older, but the concept should be the same...

The "button" tops should pop off using a screwdriver, or something similar. Sometimes just your fingers will do.

That will expose the screw head that is holding the curved board on.

After removing that board, you'll have to get creative as to what to do next...
