Attaching solar panels to the roof.

Hi all. I have a 2013 8244WS Signature.
I am intending to set the RV up for some free camping. This will require the addition of solar panels on the roof of the Van.

I have never seen whats under the roof skin. Is the roof frame aluminum or timber ? Would you use half a dozen screws (with sealant) to hold solar panels down ?
I'm over here in Oz, so never seen a wreck or a van halfway through the build.

Thanks, Evan

Mine has a fiberglass roof and 5 years ago added solar panels. Marked where the holes for the brackets went on the roof. Drilled starter holes then put down Dicor then the panels, screwed in the screws and then covered with Dicor over the screws and brackets. 5 years and 80000 miles ago. Still holding tight. Hope this helps. Have friends that live outside your Capital.
