Avoid Flint?

Heading north from Elkhart to Tawas Point, MI. Any good options to avoid the Flint area? I hear the interstates are pretty bad around there?

Flint X ways are rough and under construction. I'd try us12 or M60 to I69, take 69 to 127, North on 127 to M61, east to US 23, then north to Tawas.

I live near Flint. Never had a problem going thru there unless you are going north or south on Friday or Sunday. The roads are not as bad as you think. My husband works in Grand Blanc and we travel that way each week when we go camping. It isn't like driving thru Detroit, not scary or anything.

Did you go on your trip already? Iva's in Sterling is worth a stop if you like home style chicken dinners served family style. They usually have open parking across the road in the grass/gravel lot.

Do not fill your rv freshwater tank in Flint, unless you have really strong tank supports! That leaded water adds so much weight....lol.

Flint, the only city where they took the lead out of the gasoline, and put it in the water!

Yes. We took Tacky's advice on the route up. Had our own water and 2 jerry cans for topping off (that is really the worst water provisioning we've seen in a park so far). Enjoyed the stay, had a chance to tour the lighthouse, too. Decided I-75/69 was too rough for our tastes and took Routes 23, 25, 24 east/southbound, which was a very pleasant drive on our way out to Niagara, ON. In upstate NY now. Thanks, all, for the tips.
