Awning and using the attached grill

During our walk thru, we were instructed to put the awning away when we use the attached barbecue. This is so the awning doesn't get destroyed by grease (I guess).
My question is is this something that people really do or do they leave their awning out when they BBQ?

I have used my grill for eight years and very grateful that the awing was there covering me on several rainy days. If grease is ever the topic it would be cleaning it off the tires or side of the RV. This is usually due to cleaning with the steel brush.

I grill with my awning extended, have for years. Never a problem. My only advice is to keep your grill clean, a run away grease fire could present a problem. After my grill cools, I disassemble it and thoroughly clean the inside, making it ready for next time. No mess when stowing it also!

Not a big problem when you basically only grill chicken.

Here's a longer discussion. I think the stickers are BS.

Thanks all! My husband was mostly worried about the smoke from grilling staining the underside of the awning.

Your only problem from the grill smoke will be remembering to close the closest window before you start cooking.
