Rusty, you're opening one of the biggest cans of worms on this forum, so stand by!

Read this thread and you'll get the flavor.

http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...hod-91660.html

You can see the beefed up receiver I had welded to my frame on my Roo 19 in Post #4. (This will void your warranty, if you're still in warranty and you care.) I've had a similar beefed up receiver put on my Micro Lite 2503S.

You can do additional searches on the forum for "bike rack" and get a lot of similar threads.

Lots of options out there, but just bolting a receiver to the bumper is almost universally not recommended. The bumper by itself isn't really built for it.

Ultralight trailers generally have weak bumpers, with weak welds.
The only way to solve this is to have a receiver welded and braced to the frame, which voids the frame's warranty if it's new and original owner.

The better options are on or in the tow vehicle, inside the trailer or on an A-frame mounted bike rack.
Some members have built booth dinette bike racks. A search will bring up posts and pics of this mod.

Personally, my bikes are too valuable to put them in a dangerous area, where I can't see them.
My recommendation is to carry them on the tow vehicle. Roof racks are great additions and can be adapted for other purposes.

A bike rack on the bumper is not a good idea. They are way too light and not intended for that.

The best solutions for your Rockwood Mini Lite 2104S if don't have room in the truck bed are:
- on the dinette inside the trailer either loose or using fork mounts
- a front-mounted hitch on the truck
- a roof rack on the truck
- an A-frame mounted rack like the Arvika

What most owners of ultralight trailers don't understand, are the physics that occur with a bike rack on the rear of a trailer.
I don't know of any ultralight that has shocks.
So the bouncing that occurs, will transfer to a loaded bike rack that is mounted away from the back of the trailer.
This causes leverage factors that pull back and down on the bumper, causing eventual failure on the thin metal and weak welds.

Looks like if I want to take the two bikes along - is to give up some room in the truck bed - Softride Shuttle Pad Truck Tailgate Pad- looks like the least bed space-Thank all-Rusty

If your bikes have quick releases on the front wheels, mounting fork mounts to the under side of the dinette seats is the way to go. Move cushions, flip seat over, instant bike rack that is completely out of the way when you don't need it. Bikes stay dry and safe inside the RV.

I can fit 4 bikes easily between the two opposing dinette seats. Just have the bikes with you when you mount the mounts so you can get the spacing right. You can have the fork mounts angled a bit if you need more handlebar space.
