Bike Rack For Rockwood 2306
Has anyone incorporated an tongue mount bike rack with the Rockwood mini-lite brand ? I have been considering if these trailers would accommodate an Arvika brand - 4 bike rack? I am also uncertain to what the ramifications are to adding 4 bikes and a rack to the tongue weight of a travel trailer ?

With a Traverse TV you might need to take off 1 propane tank to offset the TW? Youroo!!

Actually plan on replacing the Traverse (5200 lb) tow capacity with a Durango (6200 lb) Tow capacity. I am not sure how that translates to tongue weight requirements.

I would rather have that extra bicycle weight on the tongue than on the trailer rear bumper.
Sounds to be ok.

I mount (4) bikes on top of the dinette... I replaced the (thin) wood under the cushions with 5/8" ply & fastened bike fork mounts on the side opposite the cushions. After we remove the bikes we invert the plywood, so the fork mounts disappear under the cushions. On our TT it keeps the bikes right over the axles so riding with/without bikes doesn't affect tongue weight or stability.
Note, even though we now have a fiberglass cap for our TV, on most trips we still mount the bikes over the dinette because otherwise they fill the entire pickup bed & we'd rather use that space for other stuff, like firewood & a portable waste tank for state park trips...

Tongue Weight with Arvika Quad Bike Rack

I guess my other alternative would be to try and compensate the trailer cargo load to the rear of the trailer, to minimize the tongue weight to about 500 lbs. I believe the unloaded tongue weight on the Rockwood is about 350 lbs. With a quad bike rack & 4 bikes & propane tanks I am sure we would reach over 600 lbs. which I would assume would not only be in excess of the Class IV hitch rating but also result in more than 10% overall tongue weight. Has anyone had any success with manipulating cargo to achieve optimal tongue weight ??????

Arvika racks look nice but they're a very pricey solution. It would be less expensive to figure how to put the bikes inside. It would keep the tongue weight down as well.
