Black tank flush mess

Today, we pulled up to the dump station. After emptying the black tank I turned on the flush. In about a minute I had water flowing out the back of the trailer. I shut off the flush and looked, sure enough water had come out of the vacuum breaker installed in the flush line! I had the DW watch while I turned on the flush again, no leak. I figure that the valve stuck then came unstuck and started working again. Should I replace th valve? Just watch it next time? By pass it? I am interested in all opinions. Thanks. Jay

If it were me, I’d replace it. Water and RVs don’t mix.

Yes I have the 2 year extended FR warranty. I forgot about it. I'll call Camping World and see what they say. I'll let everyone know what I find out. Jay

I rip those valves out of all my RV's. Put it back in when you trade or sell. Everyone of my units has had it leak at some time. Use an external back flow preventer on the hose.

Yep, those inexpensive plastic valves are not worth much for reliability.
A quality brass one will last forever.

That's funny. It was the brass ones that I had the most trouble with. The idea of venting any liquid into a camper is insane. At least the vent should also be piped outside.

After dealing with leaks from the get go, I removed it entirely and use back flow valves on both ends of the grey hose that I connect from the city water to the back flush connection on our camper.
No more problems with leaks!

I've got one of these and it's awesome. You can see the results and you can control the water supply.

Was this the built in flush system that you attach the water hose to that is built in to the camper near the fresh water fill

Last trailer was 10 years old and never had to replace a valve.

and it's been proven by videos that you're washing out about six inches inside that fitting...and that's about it.

One of the tricks I had to learn (RTFM...) about my B&B model 571 vacuum breaker is that you don't want to ease the water on when you flush, you want to turn it on suddenly to force the popup valve in the breaker to seat.

I've given up on the stock black tank rinse. I now just stick a rinsing wand down the toilet.

Yes it is the factory black tank flush. On my unit (2504s) the fitting is on the back of the unit. As we speak CW is contacting Forest River to see if I am covered. I am told that it might be a problem because it became unstuck on its own. We will see what happens. Jay.

Oh really? Please show me all the videos.

If you are referring to "The Fit RV" video with the green water, he has set up the piping that creates a fail on all his demos. His set ups are not replicated on most units IMO. It is not set up that way on my piping.

His videos have the comments turned off so us smart people can't tell him that he has created fails. Now what does that tell you?

I place my the gate valve below the injection valve and water gets in the tank no problem.

Drop by on Thanksgiving and I'll show you how good it works.

They don't work very well unless your dump valve is straight into the tank. My dump has a 45 up then a 45 into the tank. It's basically the same as just filling the tank through the dump valve. There isn't any force going into the tank.

Has anyone tried replacing the stock tank flush with a Tornado tank flush?
