Blocking the sun and full moon

Hey, what’s everyone using for a shade over the shower skylight. I know it should be something somewhat water resistant and easy on and off. Tried one of those foil bubble wrap but it did not last long at all. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I kinda like having a little sun shining in when I shower.

In previous threads folks have suggested window tint film, and a light coat of white paint on the outside of the skylight.

Personally I also like the light shining in.

Go to this link and scroll down to the post by “Wadcutter”. This is a simple and effective solution:

https://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/f...print/true.cfm

EDIT: I have no idea if linking to another RV forum is an okay thing to do here. I have never done it before, so if my post has to go, I understand.

My wife didn't care for that much sun coming in, so I used a lens tint spray. Did the trick. Rust-Oleum and VWT (probably others) offer the product.

I have the Duoform. I think around $70. Looks factory. Installs in 10 minutes. Has retractable shutter to block or let in light. Over a year old now. Stays clean and works perfectly.

I cut up a blue foam pad made for backpacking. It provides a little insulation and protects the shower from UV while in storage. It is just a press fit, but it is stiff enough that it stays up.

How about something simple like a eye shades, many people wear them to block light while sleeping.
Also some people just jam a foam pillow in the opening, this provides insulation and blocks the light.

I bought this to shove up into skylight recess over shower. Haven't used it yet, other than to ensure it fit. Easy enough to pull out when you shower so it doesn't get wet/moldy. Good deal now, 5 bucks less than when I bought it.

Looking at the floorplan for the trailer listed in the OP's post is appears there *is* no bathroom door. The shower is literally in the bedroom.

I'm not sure I've ever seen that before.

I've seen that on a few rigs and there are pros and cons to stepping out of the shower into the bedroom. Obviously a full moon or any other light source that shines through the skylight at night is a negative.
It would be interesting if the OP posted a picture of his tension rod solution once it's installed.

When I had my 5er I cut two pieces of vinyl siding channel to fit the long way. Then I cut thick cardboard to slide into the channel. You can double up the cardboard if necessary, and run some duck tape around the edge to help give it a tight fit. It worked great, wife was very happy

cheap 12 x 12 pillow or whatever size fits the hole.
Insulates as well as blocks light.
