Blue Power Indicator Light Out

When we went camping last week, I noticed the little blue indicator light (where the 30amp cable connects to Rocky) wasn't working. That thing is pretty handy to know you have power.

Has anybody replaced their light or the receptacle? It looks like, underneath, there's 3 screws in there so I'm going to take that off to, hopefully, see if I can get the light out and find a replacement. (Or, at least, find a part number and order a new part from Forest River.)

I wouldn't worry about the blue LED that indicates you have power. Purchase a Progressive Industries EMS and let it confirm you have "good" power.

There are thousands of RV's out there without the light. Don't worry about it.

Plug up, throw the breaker "ON", listen for the microwave to beep.

Lots of posts about the indicator light in the cap or the one in the cord going bad.
Does not affect the operation of shore power at all.

Many have reported replacing them only to have them go out again.

I had the same thing happen to my MAC. Went a spoke with RV dealer and he actually took one apart, and still couldn't figure out how you can replace it. I recently sold mine but had decided to just do without the power light at the camper. Still had my light at the power hookup

If its a Furrion plug, contact them and they may replace it under warranty. They did mine anyway but my TH is a 2015.

Those cord/plug lights lie as much as tank sensors. One of my two (50a rig) has been out 2 years, I think.

Mine went out on my 274DBH, was replaced under warranty with an updated one. It is nice to verify you have power. The replacement has a larger blue light.

I've had a similar but not quite the same issue with my 2011 Georgetown. I have a number of switches with internal light bulbs. Of course, the light bulbs burn out making it impossible to tell that the switch is on. When I hit the third replacement for one switch, I gave up and used a switch without an internal bulb. I added an LED, mounted just above the switch and wired it into the "on" side of the switch. My current estimate is that the led will still be working after my children are too old to drive the rig.

May not be a bad light. I have noticed on a couple of campsites that the 30A plug was only fed with a single pole 30A breaker. In those sites our light doesn't work. Not sure, but may need both legs of a 240V circuit to make it light up.

Huh?
A 30 amp service is 120v (not 240v) and is SUPPOSED to be fed with a single pole breaker. You'll have more than the indicator light burn out if you hook your 30 amp cord to 240v!

Sorry, cowboy, but that funny looking power cord ( that looks suspiciously like a dryer cord) is actually, and always, a 240V cord. Most campgrounds have 30A and/or 50A hook-ups, both 240V

I'm not a cowboy and you are entitled to believe what you want but you are wrong about 30 amp R/V service and posting information like this is bad advice and helps no one.

You might want to do a little research on RV electrical systems...... 30a has a single 120v leg; 50a has two 120v legs and are used as 240v in a VERY few units - like those with clothes dryers.

Here's what I was hunting:

RV's work off of 120 volt AC.

A standard "RV" 30 amp outlet is ONLY 120 volt AC power.

Now a 50 amp outlet is what is considered a 120/240 volt split phase. The way the RV utilizes the split phase, is although it has two hot lines that combined would make it 240 volts, the RV keeps it in a way that keeps the two hot lines separate, with each at 120 volts.

-----------------------------

Where you burn up things in your RV, is if you connect to a 30 amp 240 volt only outlet. This has happened several times to members who do not know better.

Please read the 30 and 50 amp tabs at this link to gain a better understanding:

RV Electric

-----------------------------

So for clarification, do you know if this 30 amp outlet at your relatives property is a true TT 30 amp 120 volt outlet, like RV's use...... or is it a 30 amp 240 volt outlet? They are not the same beast by far even though you may be using the terminology interchangeably. We just need to be SURE you are using the right thing before you may possibly damage your RV. Have other RV's used this outlet at your family property?
