I ended up using the cheaper brand. The 2902ss took just over 3 gallons, probably half a gallon just to fill the filter canister. For $3/gal, no biggie.
MtnGuy, I too noticed the cheaper had ethyl alcohol, which was listed as the first ingredient. If non-consumable products follow the same guidelines as consumable products (doubtful), then there's more ethyl alcohol than anything else... The premium's ingredients listed "Other proprietary ingredients" at the end.

After I removed my filter, I inserted an empty (with the lid screwed back on) plastic soda bottle back into the filter housing prior to using the antifreeze. As you stated, however, the antifreeze at $3/gal is no biggie. After completing the winterization I removed the filter housing as I've read that some have had the housing freeze and crack if moisture was present in the threads. I then placed an empty coffee can under the male portion of the filter housing to catch any antifreeze that might leak out during the winter.

I'm terrified that I would forget that the filter housing is removed, and flood the entire camper in the spring. However, I might take this advice and put some reminders around my water connections. Thx!

I've done dumber things.. haha.
On the same note, I knew a guy that dumped 3 gallons of vehicle antifreeze into his well water. Hospitalized him for a few weeks... Lesson I'd rather not learn the hard way

He was Darn lucky (DUMB) but lucky. He would have been a Darwin Award winner for sure.

Both are practically the same. I go for the less expensive one. But I just drain the lines and water heater, blow the lines out with a compressor, and fill the traps with anti-freeze. I've never had a problem. And, if we have a nice warm couple of days, we can go camping, and re-winterize afterwards without it costing us a small fortune. I usually use about a gallon of anti-freeze.

you know ............. Id like to try vodka for antifreeze since it wont freeze. I will just winterize the 5er with that then im thinkin all i have to do in the spring is get my glass full of ice and mixer of choice and camp out at the low point drains and mix my drinks !

I had thought about that also. But the cheapest stuff is about $15 per 1/2 gallon, so that would make it pretty expensive compared to RV antifreeze.
I don't know what it would do the lines over winter, either.......it might just dissolve the lines.

In the early to mid 80's We had trouble getting decent windshield washer fluid that wouldn't freeze in the extreme cold temps. I would mix vodka with the cheap stuff and that solved the problem  Unfortunately, it always made me thirsty
