Bubbles

Hi. We love our trailer. A 2109s. When we did the PDI last year when we bought it there was a bulge behind the front compartment. I was concerned but reassured that it was just excess glue. We documented it in case of future problems. So, we went to the local RV show and I talked with a Forest River factory rep. Apparently they used a birch ply instead of luau in some trailers because of Trump’s trade wars. The birch is not adhering with the glue. Therefore problems. This was acknowledged so now our tt will have to be go to the factory at some point. Now we just have to figure out when. This makes it hard to finish planning for summer and fall camping. Ugh. Thanks for letting me vent, and heads up to anyone else who got their trailer last spring. It will be fixed but I’m just sad at the time we’ll loose with it.

The tariff "trade war" for plywood started in 2012. IMO, the manufacture switched plywood for cost reasons and didn't do their due diligence to be sure other components were compatible with each other. Glad FR is fixing your problem and thanks for pointing out the issue. Others may come across the same problem.

As Birch is an exceptional building material and glues quite well and in some cases is prefer over Luan, my thoughts are the manufacturer is doing a CYA over shoddy workmanship and a rep trying to throw their political views into the mix.

4 years ago I bought a unit as is with a "bubble" factory let the dealer discount the trailer 6k for not having to refinish that side of trailer. I took the discount and bought as is and the bubble never got any worse and was barley noticeable for the 6k discount.

Can you post a photo of this issue? How big is it?

Can you just plan for the factory return after the camping season?

We’re debating that. I don’t know about leaving it during the winter. We’d have to get it back before November or it can’t go into the storage space we use.

Bubbles

Update. Well , unfortunately the bubble area has grown and the dealer identified one that runs along the other side of the trailer. They’re in the process of documenting this with Forest River. It will have to go in for this fix. I wish it could be done quicker but it will have to wait until we’re done camping for this year.
