By-Pass Pump Rockwood 2109S Trailer

Winterized water system today first time, after reading a lot of info on how to. I have an external port for anti-freeze (AF) where I attached a short piece of hose. I closed one valve which I think goes to the fresh water tank and opened the valve to the port? My pump is a 4008 RV By-Pass pump, it would not suck up the (AF) from the jug. I poured the (AF) into the hoses open end, then the (AF) was dispensed to the faucets. I am wondering now, if the male thread into the port did not seat on the rubber and pump was sucking air. Does anyone know if this pump should have sucked up the (AF)?

You might have the valve in the wrong position.

Is there a bypass valve near the water pump that has to be turned so the pump will draw from the anti freeze port .

I have the 2104S. I had to turn a small valve located by the inline water filter. Hard to see because it is on the backside. That valve switches the water flow from the city water input to the antifreeze input. Pump should suck antifreeze straight from a hose dipped in antifreeze jug up through your water lines.

On my 2015 2109S there is a single two position valve that selects input to the pump from either the fresh water tank or the external port. If your pump works properly in drawing water from the fresh tank, it should pull antifreeze through the port from your af bottle. A couple of considerations 1) make sure the selector valve is set correctly, 2) if you have removed the water and filter from its housing, it is helpful to fill it with antifreeze so you don't have to draw a vacuum in the housing to suck in the af, 3) position the af bottle as high as possible to assist the pump. Hope this helps.

Be aware that some TTs have a valve in each suction line instead of a single 3-way valve.
My Roo 19 had two valves, my Mini Lite has the 3-way.

Thanks everyone for your input. Problem solved! As expected, I bought a new hose with a longer male thread, this seated further into the anti-freeze (AF) port. After filling hose with A.F. I placed jug on ground and pump continued to suck from the jug. My (2013) 2109S has two valves, one from the AF port and one from the fresh water tank. Success.
