Cannot remove water filter housing to install filter.

Left loosey, righty tighty, right? It is like this sucker is glued on. Solutions?

Have you tried with water pump off and turning on a faucet to release pressure?

I've had good luck placing the wtench in position and giving it a whack with a short piece od 2x4. Put some folded paper towel between wrench and canister, enough to hold wrench in place without falling, then hit handle. Doing this eliminates having to get both hands in confined area.

I hit the wrench handle about midway between base and tip. More impact goes into loosening with les flex in handle.

As said earlier, make sure ALL pressure is relieved by opening faucet.

When replacing apply some silicone grease (stuff sold at hardware stores for faucet stems) on o-ring and end of canister. Will help with sealing and removing next time.

Do not overtighten. If leaking, replace o-ring.

The top white part has to be firmly affixed before you whack on the tool, and yes, it's lefty-loosey. Use a silicon grease on the o-ring for future easy release and don't use gorilla strength to tighten it down.

I haven’t put a filter in ours yet just because of that, it is so tight from the factory that I haven’t spent the time and effort to get it loose, have really been kinda scared that it would break if I put more pressure on it

I did have the pump off, but had not figured on the faucet release. Thanks, came right off after the pressure was released.

you may noticed some "teeth" on the top near the screw ring... these teeth engage when pressurized preventing the housing from unscrewing...

I ended up taking that entire canister out and bypassing it with some pex hose and shark bite fittings. Those things tend to leak and not worth it in my opinion

GEN 1 with the rstchet maybe. I have the later "no ratchet" model and change element every year. Not a single drop of leakage.

X2 on our new Mini. I just decided to cut it out/bypass it and go with an external filter... works much better for me and much less of a hassle when blowing out the trailer multiple times towards the end of season.

I was able to use hose clamps as we have the flexible hose when I bypassed our filter. 150 nights without a leak. I agree that external filters are the way to go. I have a tote with a 2 stage filter and my hoses for hookups. I cut holes in each end of the tote so the hoses can run out and I can put the lid back on the tote.

Bypass It

Like RobRockz said. Take it out and if you feel you must have filtered water, use and external one which won't hurt your floors if it leaks/fails. I grew up drinking from garden hoses and irrigation water and not dead yet.
