Caravan on long term site
I was wondering if anybody could give me advice on how to set up my Rockwood 3008 Windjammer 34 foot long (10.3 meters) caravan with regards to how to stabilize it on the caravan site as it is a bit bouncy sitting on the tyres at present. The site I am on a present is grass and I will be there long term. It already has stabilizer/leveler arms fitted but after they are set up the caravan is still a bit unsteady when you walk around inside it.
I was thinking about jacking up on the 2 x axles (4 tyres total and 2 per axle) and putting timber under the axles near to where the tyres are, to take the weight off the tyres, but am not sure of the following:
1: Is it true that if you leave the caravan tyres on the grass long term you will get a flat spot on the tyres that will ruin them or will they just bounce back to shape on their own if the caravan need to be moved in the future.
It could be stationary at the site for 2 years +
2: When jacking up the axles do you have to get all the 4 tyres of ground completely (i.e able to spin the wheels) or do you just jack up the axles enough to take the weight of the caravan and leave the tyres still in contact with the grass.
Any advice would be welcome as I am sure most people with a larger caravan who have it onsite long term will already have the knowledge.
