Coupler Lock

I have a 2011 Windjammer and I am trying to find a coupler lock that will fit. I bought a Reese, a Masterlock and borrowed a friend's older Masterlock and none of them fit. It seems that the width of my coupler is about 4 1/2" and the ones I got were all 4". I called Forest River, who referred me to the chassis manufacturer and the only thing they could tell me was that the coupler I had was an inverted coupler so I'd need one that would accommodate that. I just ordered a Diversi-Tech lock that is supposed to span 4 1/2".

Anyone else run into this issue? I couldn't believe that neither Forest River or Dexter chassis had ever been asked about this.

I guess you are talking about locking the A frame female ball area,to prevent theft from a undersize ball? Buy a cheap 2-5/16 ball, cut off the stud, place in the female part of the trailer hitch, close hitch, place a (GOOD) lock in the lever hole and you will be as secure as any other units! Youroo!!

We had the same issue with new trailer. Solution was simple - went to the dealer who sold us the trailer Parts & Accessory dept and they had several types that fit over the wide flange hitch.

I also have the undermount coupler and the coupler lock from my previous trailer doesn't even come close to fitting. I have looked online at the Diversi-Tech locks also. Please let me know if your new locks fits. What model number did you order?

Thanks,
Larry

Reese 580403, 580408, 63225, 63230 coupler locks will all work with this type of coupler. I have the 580408 and it works great with my Windjammer

I got the Diversi-Tech DT25013. It works okay, not as tight of a fight as I had hoped. The hold in the lever handle is pretty small. Thanks for the info.

the yellow one at Home Depot is the same Design where you put the piece in the lock and push the top clamp down over the coupler - might be worth to try that one as well and it is supposed to work for 1 7/8" 2" and 2 5/16" Ball coupler
I attached a picture of the one I am talking about

Yeah, I bought the Reese one, but it only covers a diameter of 4" and mine is 4 1/2".
