Cracked Windshield

Just noticed that my 2021 Rockwood ultralight 2304DS has a cracked windshield. The windshield/blind is behind a Murphy bed and the blind is usually in the lowered position.
Any Rockwood/Flagstaff owner’s experience a front cracked windshield yet?

There have been quite a few posts on the Forum, from owners who have experienced this.
A search in the Rockwood or Flagstaff sub-forums, should bring up threads/posts from those members.
It's not a rare occurrence.

I really wish they'd get rid of the windshield. Depending on the floorplan, looking out of it is nice, but its just another potential source of problems for an item that already has plenty of potential sources of problems.

Jayco did the same thing w/ their Class C's. Started putting windshields in the front cap. The area most notorious for leaks, and they go and take the one thing they did SO much better then everybody else (solid one piece fiberglass cap) and put a big windshield across the front.

Thx for you reply and I totally agree. Back in the day when we had a smaller travel trailer it had a front windshield however it also had a front protector which you would open once you arrived at your destination, what a novel idea from back in the day!

Following this thread. I’ve seen someone enquiring about this cover but I don’t think, if they bought it, they’ve come back to let us know their opinion on it.

I did a Dun&Bradstreet search for YB Outdoors and couldn’t get any information on this company. I was able to pull up a website for the company, but other than a number of photos, I wasn’t able to find any other inspformation such as an email address, contact information. Until I can determine it’s an actual business, I’m not placing an order. YMMV.

I purchased the cover - used it for the first time for NASCAR race weekend at Pocono....6 hour drive. Easy install and worked as advertised

Included was the cover...velcro...and instructions. Velcro has adhesive backing that one places around the windshield about an 1/8 from the molding. Must make sure windshield is cleaned prior to attaching velcro. Let set for 24 hours and good to go. We drove from Virginia on I-81...to I-80 to Pocono. Lot of trucks on I-81. We removed the cover at Pocono and attached it on our return home. Removed when we parked at our RV storage lot. Bascially...it is easiest to have a step stool and lower the front jack. One person can handle this.

I just installed the is cover from YB-outdoors.com. About $375. Heading out the the Upper Peninsula from Pennsylvania. This week. Easy to install and setup on my Rockwood 2511s Mini Lite

Our 2020 2511S Mini-Lite has a cracked -upper left-windshield that I siliconed on the outside and put two inch wide heavy mil duct tape on the inside. Has not increased or spidered in over 18 months and two cross country trips.
For $150 we had an upholstery guy up near Reno Nevada install a custom made cover that is fantastic. Held on with SS twist tabs. Takes 2.5 minutes to put on or take off.

Does anyone have one of these with proof of an actual rock strike? I would sure think it would show up as a mark in the canvas.

I went the Lexan cover route myself. Not as pretty as the canvas covers but it has stayed in place for over 12 months/three thousand miles and no need to remove and reinstall when traveling. It is able to be removed if needed.

I am waiting to see how the adhesive for the attachment strips hold up over the years though. So far so good.

No evidence of any rock strike on mine either so I do not know if it will work or not.

Our windshield was just replaced last week so I ordered the yb-outdoors cover. The tech installed it at the time no extra charge. First he had done. They said they are gonna recommend buyers to check them out. Went black for obvious reason. But they do have a few standard colors as well as an option to do a custom color. They are definitely starting up but it’s a good market. They make covers for all different windshields for different make and models of rv

I just found out in June that I had a spider web crack in my front windshield of Rockwood Mini lite 2509S. With the Murphy bed up all winter, and the shade down, I never saw it. And can't see it on the exterior with the tinted glass. Could have happened over the winter, or on one of two trips last fall. Don't see any evidence on outside of a rock or anything. Haven't used it all year to know if it will get worse if driving. Been struggling to find a dealer who I trust to replace it. I spoke to a Rockwood tech who sent me specs/instructions for replacing and said it's just like a car windshield. Think I finally found a motorhome dealer in CT that can do it that has experience with replacing windshields.
