Drive with refrigerator on?
This may have been talked about before. Just wondering who drives long distances with their fridge on in gas mode? I have heard mixed comments on this. I have tried it with my old tt. It worked great till I had a safety recall done. (Hi temp shut off on burner tube). Thoughts?

Mine stays on when traveling. Usually turn it off while fueling motorhome or filling propane tank.

We travel with ours on and always have. The refrigerator is at least 30ft from the gas filler on our truck so I don't feel any reason for shutting it off. If it were a motorhome and the refrigerator was close to the vehicle fill, I would probably shut it off.

We travel with ours on and always have without any issues. My first truck was a gasser and I never bothered to turn off the fridge when fueling up.

I travel with mine on - if I have to get gas - I keep the camper away from the pumps and just put the TV at the pump and I try to use the outside lanes to fill.

Travel with mine on all the time. Refrigerator is on opposite side from gas filler so don't worry about it much but it is no problem to turn off for a couple minutes.

We leave ours on the propane mode during our travels. We try to limit our distance driven each day to around 300-325 miles and it works fine. Really nice when stopping for lunch at mid day and having cold beverages and food.

Thanks for all the responses. I will see how it works out when I travel from Ca to Co and back this summer.

Always off. Its a flame. Nobody needs that travelling down the road. If the fridge cannot stay cold for 5-6 hours then fridge needs replacing.

Mine runs on propane while travelling. The manual even says it's fine. I'm not going to argue with the manufacturer.

Agree. If it wasn't meant to be done, manufacturers would have all RV's able to use battery to run the fridge while towing. Mine has two options: propane or electric; since I cannot find an extension cord long enough propane it is!

Off, unless trip is more than 4-5 hours. Always off when entering a fuel station.

I have tried to run with our on 12 volt 2x now, but each time when I set-up the check light is on and the fridge is not cold.
Have pretty much just given up.

To be real safe I use a cooler with ice in it.I never slide it across the carpet while at a fuel stop,it might cause static electricty and blow up the fuel station. My wife makes sure no one drives up to the other side of the pump island while we are getting fuel,as well as not starting their vehicle until I am finished fueling. Ignition & starters two biggest spark producers. One can never be too safe! Youroo!!

Don't forget to tie down the dog. They tend to create a static charge with their coat.

This past weekend I ran with the fridge on gas. 1 part to ensure it was working, 1 part to keep/get things cold that I hadn't planned far enough ahead for, 1 part to keep my burgers frozen.
Then ran 90% of Thursday-Saturday on propane due to my generator failing. (Over 20 years old + bumped the fan switch to A/C = POP goes the genny)
