Electric stabilizer jacks

I'm new to this forum, new owner of a rockwood windjammer and new to camping. I was wondering how far you raise the jacks up. I've known people to raise them all the way and others to raise them until they hit the ground as the manual says to. Any advice on what you do? Thanks.

Don't put too much pressure on the rear jacks, as they are not welded onto the frame very well, and you could rip them right out of the frame.
These units are not built like the old days!

The four-corner jacks are actually for stabilization only. They are NOT meant to lift the trailer. Level trailer, front-to-back using the tongue jack(landing gears on fifth wheel). Level trailer side-to-side using boards or ramps.

Click here for an explanation of leveling your trailer.

I might add that I get the trailer level side-to-side 'before' lowering the jacks, by putting planks under the wheels on one side or the other. Only then do I lower the jacks. Otherwise, it would mean using the jacks on one side to try to do the leveling, one again putting too muh strain on the welds, As well, the rear jacks don't seem to have the power to do much lifting anyway.
