Flushing out 8289ws tanks

We have a 2015 signature ultra lite 8289ws. On the drives side of the trailer it has 3 connections. One for city water, one for winterizing and the other says for flushing holding tanks.

Can anyone tell me how to work the flushing holding tanks connection? Our dealer just says it's in the paperwork. But we cannot find anything about it.

We would be very grateful for any help.

It is for the black tank only. Connect a hose, OPEN THE DRAIN VALVE , then let lots of water run. It will help keep the black water tank clean.

We where wondering if you have the same owners manual as we do? If so, why does it show the water filter in the picture?

Generic manual, one book fit most, just not very well...

I believe there is a water filter. I had one in my 2013 8289. It was behind a panel in the storage area.

Open the driver side storage door. It is behind the panel to your right. 6 screws to remove.

Sorry the picture I was talking about is in the book under flushing the tanks. It shows the water filter and the levers for the holding tanks. Our water filter is in the trailer under a cabinet.

Thanks everyone for your help. We appreciate it.

Don't mix the water filter with the black water flush system....they are not related!

Flushing out 8289ws tanks

One of the first things that I bought was a clear plastic elbow for my sewer hose. That way when I flush my black water tank using that outside hose connection I can actually see when nothing but clear water is coming out. I will sometimes close the black water valve with the flush hose running momentarily to get just a little water back in the tank and then reopen. That helps me know that I have most everything out of the black water tank. Disclaimer......DO NOT CLOSE THAT VALVE WITH THE WATER RUNNING AND LET IT RUN VERY LONG.

I would love to hear other folks opinions of doing this. It is just a way I figured out to get a little more of the crud out of the tank. Most of the time after flushing for a bit the culprit seems to be left over paper.

Ken

I do the same, I don't have a clear elbow, just unhook and check the outflow when it slows down.

I also added a valve ahead of the elbow for insurance.

Our black tank got plugged with who knows what. Anyway, after lots of failed attempts to get it to drain, I closed the dump valve and used the clean out input to fill the tank. The wife was inside watching and yelled when water began to back up into the toilet. It took many minutes for it to fill. Then, after checking to be 100% sure all sewer hose connections were tight, I opened the drain valve. Whatever the problem had been got washed out the drain valve. It was an unnerving experience but I was desperate. It was the only way I could think of to get it flushed out.

Actually, other than letting it back up into the toilet that is the way the black tank is supposed to be cleaned out. Should fill till full indicator (light) annunciates or water reaches to the bottom of toilet input to tank and then open dump valve. Will never have a light issue and the tank will not require any of those cleanout procedures. The tank will not fill up immediately, mine takes about 20 minutes. There are many who think this is ridiculous but just google for black tank cleanout procedures. There are also many urban legends of overflows and such. Just don't walk away, as you normally wouldn't anyway, while dumping.
