Forest Rivers new line of campers?
These are our neighbors this evening at KOA in Wakeeney, KS. Is this the new line of campers from Forest River?

We got a tour of one of them. That's me in the blue shirt in the doorway. Anyway--built in Nixa, MO and can be customized however you want it. The stove top runs on the truck diesel fuel so there is no propane. Has solar panels on the roof. One piece shower, toilet, sink area with grated floor for drainage. They had been out on the rim of the Grand Canyon and then on their way back to Illinois they camped a few nights on remote mountain tops in Colorado. Claims they have never been stuck!

Those were on the show Extreme RV's. They are made for some hardcore boondock camping in remote rugged terrain and are really expensive. You can really get off the grid in one of those bad boys.

The stove top burns diesel fuel? I'd rather have propane. Pretty cool otherwise.

Seemed a little odd to me but I guess it's so they only have to carry one fuel source.

Years ago, probably before your time, cook stoves used kerosene. My mom cooked many a meal on one. I think we got an electric one in 1945 or 1946. Ours was exactly like this one.

I saw something very similar in the Yukon last year except it was green and appeared to have been made by Mercedes.
The folks camping in it were Dutch, or German (I'm pretty sure the hamguy talked to them).
The vehicle would not have looked out of place in Afghanistan.
Definitely "outcools" FJ cruisers, Land Rovers, etc...
(and yes, I want one!)

Coot, we have an old Coleman stove similar to your picture that my wife's grandparents had. It burned the white gas. Still have it in our barn for some reason. Antiques for sale!
Yukon, the unit in the foreground is a Mercedes. The other one didn't have a logo on it that I could readily see. Front ends are similar so I would guess they both are.

Old car, is that your Windjammer? Just curious, why do you use so many leveling blocks under your stabilization jacks? Does it help with stability since the jacks are not scissored out too much?

dalford - I can't speak for Randy, but I believe you have hit the nail on the head. That is exactly the reason that I build up blocks under my stabilizers (I actually carry a couple of junk end cut's off some 6"x6" posts for each corner stabilizer jack for this purpose). By not having to extend the stabilizers too far, noticeably greater stability (much less shake) is achieved, IMO.

I uses 6 x 6 blocks under my jacks as well, not for extra stability, but because it takes so long for the electric motor to extend the jacks.
Sorry for the thread hijack. I saw similar campers to those here in Lunenburg, NS just a couple of weeks ago. They were sporting European tags. One of the 2 I saw was quite a bit bigger than those. I can't imagine getting good gas mileage, nor a comfortable ride on the highway, not to mention cramped living quarters when camping. Yea,, cancel my order for one.

Just back from vacation and catching up. Dalford, as Vern posted--I build up the blocks to get a wider stance with the stabilizers. Seems to help with the shakes and rocking. And I agree with Rugged--takes awhile for them to run down.
