Fridge cooler on LP?

We picked this weekend for our first trip in our new Windjammer 3006wk, and it's been about 110 every day. The 15k A/C can only keep it down to about 85 inside before it keeps tripping the breaker. The fridge has been heating up to 58 the past two days. Today I switched it to LP, and it's staying at 44. Seems to keep much cooler on LP. Wish we would have got the 2nd A/C.

For popups with the smaller 3-way fridges, the LP was always colder ... and this was by rule, not just my particular fridge. I am not sure if the hard-sided trailer fridges are the same or not, but I suspect that they are.

110F in direct sun is brutal and is going to be challenging for an A/C. A delta of 25 degrees in that sort of heat probably isn't too bad. But, others would know better than me.

Fridge cooler on LP?

I always ran the fridge in my pop-up on propane, even with hook-ups. It would freeze a gallon of milk if I wasn't careful!

A couple of things to make your fridge cooler:

1. Evaporate cooling fan: https://www.amazon.com/Deluxe-RV-Ref...ge+cooling+fan

2. 4 inch cooling fans installed in fridge top vent. I don't have mine controlled by a thermostat. I turn them on in the day when ti is above 80 deg F outside and turn them off at night. I have 4 fans and use about 1.2 amp/hours of electricity when they are on.

I was able to freeze milk in my Dometic until last camping trip when the cooling assembly failed on me. I was hoping to get more then 10 years out of it but the replacement cooling unit will be made of heavier gauge tubing.

It's tough keeping things cool in that sort of heat. Even a second A/C would help a little bit. Parking so the fridge is out of the direct sun helps a lot but using LP gas does get the fridge colder than just using electricity alone.

We just about always run our fridge on AC- when available- and never had a problem keeping it at the proper temp. But we have 2 ACs. Adding that second AC may make a big difference.
