Gas shocks for the awning

How long are these supposed to last? I put my awning out last weekend and one side just drooped down. It eventually came up so i wasnt sure if it was rain water or the shock starting to go. Anyone replace these?

I didnt think it would go this fast, perhaps it was just too much rain water sitting in the rolled up awning.

If it's the same as mine, it can't drop unless the knob is not tight. Keep them tight unless you want to drop one or both ends. Mine will fold with them tight so I keep them that way.

The awnings should ALWAYS be tilted just in case of an unexpected rain. Left a manual awning level about 35 yrs ago and it took several hours of work to straighten the tube from being bowed from rain sitting in the awning.

Well the dometic awning is billed as "auto" dumping as I believe Tim posted a video of actually working.
One knob needs to be tight the other not.
